TRANSCRIPT
Principal’sWelcomEWe believe everyone should have an ambition. So, our new prospectus will guide you through the programmes that can help make your ambition a reality. You can read about the career routes your interests could take you down and inspiring stories from past students who we have helped to achieve their ambitions.
Here, we have a strong focus on practical skills and technical and professional qualifications. But make no mistake. Our programmes are just as challenging as more traditional academic studies. You won’t just develop your knowledge in the classroom; you will grow your independence, learn in specialist environments and build the skills and behaviours you need to stand out to employers.
Ambition takes many forms. Our students progress to apprenticeships and get jobs, while around half go on to University. As we’re part of the University of Derby we can offer you seamless pathways and access to unique resources, services and opportunities.
We will help you to think big but we like to act small. We will personalise your experience, get to know you as an individual and support you as we take you out of your comfort zone. Mixing learning in your subject area with maths, English and a range of different activities and challenges; your course will help you discover your future self.
EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE AN AMBITION. INDIVIDUALS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.
Len Tildsley Principal

CAMERONHOSPITALITYAmbition: Go to university and then start my career in hospitality and catering.FAST FACT: Cameron regularly oversees the running of the Devonshire Dome’s restaurant at Buxton.
Cameron is currently studying on our Level 3 Food & Beverage Service programme. He’ll then go on to study Culinary Arts at the University of Derby.
Students run the fine dining restaurant in the Devonshire Dome.
We do everything from preparing the food to receiving and serving guests. Earlier in the year, we put
on a huge dinner for the Rotary Club for 50 visitors. I led on this and got
a real buzz out of seeing so many happy faces at the event.
