Principal’s Message: We are celebrating ‘Mental Health Awareness” week during May

1-5, and we have a number of activities planned. We have “Hats

on! For Mental Health” on May 3, and teachers will have mental

health focused lessons during Literacy blocks. I have attached

some resources and agency information below if you have any

questions or concerns regarding mental health.

We are happy to celebrate our Volunteers this month at the

Spring Tea and Concert on May 25th. Our Volunteers are

invaluable here at Gibbons School, from readers, to pancake

flippers to student support, volunteers help make our school the

wonderful place it is.

Our exams begin in May and continue through until the end of

June. Your child should certainly be taking some time at home to

review course material and make sure all assignments are

handed in. Our school keeps students engaged in their learning

through our variety of projects, and it is especially important to

keep the momentum going as the weather gets warmer.

Lunch Time / Appointments / Leaving Early

A closed campus exists to assist the school in ensuring a safe and

caring environment. Students are not allowed off school premises

unless a parent contacts the school via phone/note to have the

student attend an appointment or be involved in a specific activity.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy,

please contact Mrs. Kristine Wilkinson, Principal, or Mrs. Darla Clark,

Vice Principal.

Severe Nut Allergies

We have students who have severe allergic reactions to nuts. If

exposed to nuts, their reaction may place them in a life-threatening

situation. In providing as safe an environment as possible, we

encourage our students to not share their food with others. If students

are bringing treats for others, we ask that they be free of nut products.

Your assistance in limiting these products being brought into the school

is appreciated. We would also ask parents/guardians to inform the

school if their child(ren) have any life threatening allergies so that we

may better protect your children’s health. Please contact the school

office at (780) 923-2240.

Absentee Check

If your child will be absent for the day please contact the school as

soon as possible at 780-923-2240, or send an email to:

[email protected]. Absentee checks will be done each

morning, and automated calls will be made to verify attendance for

those students marked absent.
