From the Principal . . . . . . . . . . .
Congratulations to all those students who received an award at last week’s assembly. It is always pleasing to recognise and acknowledge student achievement through these types of activities. We are hoping that restrictions will be reduced further at some stage next term to allow parents to come along and celebrate with us.
Kindergarten 2021 and Little Learners Information
We are now taking enrolments for our Kindergarten class of 2021. Please come and get an enrolment form from the office. Also, if you know anyone with Kindergarten aged children, please encourage them to consider our school. Also, our Little Learners transition program dates have been released with our transition sessions starting on Tuesday 1st September. Details of our information sessions will be released soon. This will allow our staff to explain the Little Learners program and processes. I hope you find this helpful.
Student Reports
Semester 1 reports will be sent home at the end of Week 5 Term 3, Friday 21st August due to COVID-19 shut down. The delay in handing these out will allow teachers to better assess our students and give a fairer indication on how they are progressing. There will be a different format of this report, with no A-E grading documented, rather a substantial comment in both English and Mathematics. The report will focus on learning that has occurred both at home and at school during Semester 1. Please remember to book an interview with your classroom teacher if you require one.
Application for Opportunity Class Placement in Year 5 in 2021
If your child is seeking Year 5 opportunity class placement in 2021 you are required to submit an application online between Tuesday 9th June 2020 and 26th June 2020. Further information and application forms can be found at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5
School Attendance
Attendance is one area of focus this year, with a recent highlight being the increasing number of students arriving late to school. Arriving at school and class on time is very important and helps: Ensure that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day. Students learn the importance of punctuality and routine. Students to have time to socialise and interact with their peers. Reduce classroom disruption. Please be aware that lateness is recorded as a partial absence, which needs to be explained by parents. Your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.
Have a great week. Derek Noffke Principal

Cultural groups
All Stage 2 classes have been
participating in cultural lessons led
by Simone and Richard. 3/4V
have made damper, woven
bracelets, Johnny cakes and
learnt to draw kangaroos in an
Indigenous style. The students are
enjoying the hands-on activities
but are also learning some
Wiradjuri words and stories about
these practices in the local
community.
In the Vegetable Garden…
Each Thursday afternoon is spent in the vegetable garden with Mrs Seymour. As well as planting
peas, broad beans, kale, cabbage, broccoli and silverbeet, we have harvested the sweet
potato crop. We were all very excited at finding the buried treasure, though some of the
potatoes seemed to want to stay in the ground. Mrs van Werven made yummy sweet potato
chips as a reward on Friday Week 7 and we were all amazed at the beautiful purple colour inside
the potatoes. We will be looking for more recipes to cook to use the rest of the potatoes.
Since we have all returned to school after
the COVID lockdown, in Maths we have
looked at measuring length (using
centimetres), area (using square
centimetres), and mass (using grams and
kilograms). Our confidence in recalling
times tables is growing with daily practice.
To complete our work on information
reports, we have researched dolphins and
will be presenting the finished reports in
Weeks 9 and 10 as both written and spoken
presentations.

Junior Footy News We are very keen to try and get junior footy going again this season. We are going to have training for all junior footy grades 11s, 13s & 15s this week, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6pm at the Narrandera sportsground. There is a league meeting this week where we will find out more information about what format any season is going to look like. Please try and get your kids to training as we need to sort out what sort of numbers we are going to have in each grade. Please bring your own water bottle, and adhere to current covid restrictions. Under 11s Sth end of the ground, 13s over near the scoreboard and 15s near the canteen. If you have any pressing questions please contact me, I will try and answer what I can but we will have more information after the league meeting this week. Thanks Dave 0437827187
