PRINCE OF MALACCA
Suspense-filled adventure-thriller - journeying into the
Past to rescue the Future!
CRUX OF THE MATTER!
This proposed film is about a Wall Street billionaire who traces his lover from a previous birth to
a tribe to which she is born in this present life. In a double deal, he undertakes a CIA posting as
an Intelligence Officer in the Southeast Asian theatre to detect a drug cartel. But his real motive
is to access his lover of previous birth in order to avert the seer-predicted forthcoming tragedy!
In this covert affair he has to look for her among the native tribes in the islands of the Southeast
Asian Seas. In a death-defying battle which extends from Malaccan islands to Jordanian desert
valley Wadi Rum, he attempts to rescue her from the clutches of a dreaded drug lord, who wants
to possess her for himself.
SYNOPSIS
From the ultra-modern luxurious back-drop of the financial capital of the world, Johnny - a Wall
Street billionaire – who thrives gathering political intelligence and legislative decisions on the
evolving financial market-situations and industry from a senator in Washington exploiting them
for his Insider Trading. After the arrest of Raj Rajaratnam, a Manhattan based hedge-fund
manager, Johnny is concerned whether what he is gathering through the senator would too be
exposed in the future.
After Johnny reads an article in the Newsweek magazine by a professor at the New York
University, he becomes interested in forecasting based on ola-leaf reading which is known as
Nadi astrology which is a form of Hindu astrology practiced in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and adjacent
regions in India. It is based on the belief that the past, present and the future lives of all humans
were foreseen by Hindu sages in ancient time. According to Nadi astrology, Johnny in a former
birth, when he was a prince and admiral in the Kingdom of Malacca circa 1411 A.D., his lover
in that birth was a daughter of a Javanese prince - the administrator of Singapura (present day
Singapore), a province under the Kingdom of Majapahit based in Java.
Johnny, after seeking Nadi astrology in India, where it was revealed that he must seek his lover
of the former birth who is born as a beautiful dancer in a tribal hamlet in an island in the Strait of
Malacca, to avert an impending tragedy looming to engulf him in the future – This compels him
to get into a double deal: He becomes a CIA intelligence officer with a special directive from the
President of the United States of America to detect a drug cartel in Southeast Asia. This is a ploy
to use space and satellite technology to locate the island in the Strait of Malacca. The astrology
divulges that their untimely death in the previous birth is passing onto the current birth and the
only way he could be saved from the forthcoming disaster is by getting married to her in this
birth!
After practicing and mastering mantras in the Himalayas under the guidance of a sage, he
acquires the power of controlling others‟ thoughts and actions even from remotely. He is using
these powers and the latest satellite technology to locate the island and then access his lover of
the former birth.
A globally well-connected drug lord who has carnal desires on her, abducts her from the tribal
hamlet in the Strait of Malacca and escapes in a private jet which comes under forced landing
after thousands of miles journey in Jordan‟s Wadi Rum desert valley.
Johnny wages a deadly battle with the support of Sergeant Peter from the US Marines and
Colonel Fayssal from the Jordanian Special Forces in Wadi Rum against the dreaded drug lord
and his powerful militant group.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Cinematic Films today are still maintaining the original concept or the original definition
bestowed on “Theatrical Film”: Cinema is based on the Concept of Dreams; its principle purpose
is to entertain the viewer! As such Cinema today incorporates cine-magic – the ability to
transcend seamless from the Present to Past and also project the Future. All great films created in
the recent past incorporated these magical/dream qualities: Avatar; Transformers; The Marvel
Series; The Twilight Saga series begun by none other than Spielberg are good samples.
Similarly, Prince of Malacca weaves the fascinating love story resurfacing six hundred years
later from the past bringing to the fore the Court Intrigue in the Kingdom of Malacca in the coast
of Strait of Malacca in 15th
Century. How a Wall Street Billionaire from New York wages a war
to bring back the woman of his Heart so he could survive the impending catastrophe predicted to
engulf him.
Princess of Singapura and Prince of Malacca who were in love, died untimely in an unexpected
cannon attack by the pirates in an island in the Strait of Malacca in 1411 A.D. Princess
reincarnates as a Dancer in a tribal hamlet in an island in the Strait of Malacca while the Prince
reincarnates as a Wall Street Billionaire in New York at the present time.
Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological
death, begins a new life in a new body. This doctrine is a central tenet of the Indian religions. It
is also a common belief of various ancient and modern religions such as Spiritism, Theosophy,
and Eckankar and is found in many tribal societies around the world, in places such as Siberia,
West Africa, North America, and Australia. In recent decades, many Europeans and North
Americans have developed an interest in reincarnation. Contemporary films, books, and popular
songs frequently mention reincarnation.
The cultural conflict imposed on the modern primitives who populate this labyrinthine world in
this story stimulates the modern viewers from many angles at many levels of intellect and
spiritual understanding.
Cine-going public is still the most ardent patrons/audiences of mass entertainment disciplines,
because it is still the cheapest entertainment that drives with full throttle open – utilizing all new
technological aspects bestowed to theatrical projections. Thus Cinema today despite the
advances in the IT based personal access to entertainment, provides the most potent enjoyment to
viewers on many levels.
Therefore, the epic Prince of Malacca, when created with all the evolving technological features
imbued will be a “Box Office” buster – considering the additional factor that it brings in a
philosophical-exotic titillation: The reincarnation/re-birth “rejuvenation” where mind is trained
to overcome the pure mundane physicality!
Be that as it may, when created taking into account all the inherited factors in-laid in to the story,
Prince of Malacca is really the grist for the mass audience machinization: a love story with
adventure-suspense-thrills wrapped in “possible” fantasizing!
As such, as an International Venture with cute ethnic cultural display adding to the colouring of
the story, we suggest that we imbue the Film with personnel representing the ethnic-types – a
mixture of Caucasian – Arabian – Afro-American – Indian – Tibetan – Thai –
Indonesian/Malaysian actors and actresses – bankable to the hilt in relevant countries.
As the Prince of Malacca‟s Co-Producers and Executive Producers have direct access to top-
level actors, producers and film distribution companies to produce, market, and distribute the
film. Additionally, a well-choreographed „product placement‟ campaign as well as revenue-
generating items (CDs, books, etc.) will be explored, enabling further financial reward.
The independent film market now grosses nearly $7 billion annually, fueled by the expansion of
cable networks, the Internet, and tremendous international growth. Despite the risks inherent in
the film industry, well-packaged independent films have generated enormous returns in recent
years.
The anticipated rating from the MPAA of the Prince of Malacca is PG or PG-13.
According to Box Office Reports, of the 25 top grossing films domestically in the United
States, 3 were rated G, 10 were rated PG, 10 were rated PG-13 and 2 were rated R.
INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
In recent years there has been explosive growth in the independent film market, which now
approaches $7 billion worldwide ($3.2 billion US box office, $2.6 billion worldwide box office,
the balance in ancillary revenues). The expansion of cable networks (USA Network, TBS,
Comedy Central, HBO, PAX, etc.), the proliferation of the Internet, the increase in independent
TV stations, and the tremendous growth of the international markets have all caused a demand
for more films.
Moreover, as the major studios are swallowed up in mergers with huge multi-national
corporations, and the industry becomes increasingly “corporate” – run by lawyers and
accountants – more Hollywood talent (writers, actors, directors) are seeking alternative,
“independent” paths to pursue their craft. As talented people migrate toward independent
productions, the bar of the “independent” industry is raised, which in turn attracts more film
financers, buyers and distributors.
Since independent films are generally produced with non-union crews and talent (or union folks
who are willing to work for “scale” instead of their normal rates), the cost to produce them is
considerably lower, even with high-level talent and quality results. This radically changes the
economics for success, offering investors, producers, and distributors much higher returns.
Swingers, which cost only $500,000 to make, was sold for $5,000,000, plus an estimated 20%
gross profit participation. Movies with similar production quality could cost 50 times more if
produced through the standard union process.
Despite the risks inherent in the independent film industry, well-packaged films with solid
business plans can generate enormous returns – and lots of Hollywood “fringe benefits”.
COMPARABLE SMALL BUDGET FILMS
Distributors such as Miramax, Sony Classic Pictures, Artisan, and Fox Searchlight have all
cashed in on the break-out success of independent films.
Below is a list of similarly themed independent and lower budget studio films that have been
produced for $5 - $15 Million or under and their resulting domestic box office gross.
Title (Distributor) Reported
Budget
Domestic Box Office
Gross
Good Will Hunting (Miramax) $10 Million $138 Million
Witness (Paramount) $12 Million $65 Million
Slumdog Millionaire (Fox
Searchlight)
$15 Million $141 Million
Swingers (Miramax) $500,000 $5.5 Million
The list above does not include additional revenues from international box office; pay, cable,
and syndicated TV; video and DVD sales, soundtrack and music publishing revenues, or any
other ancillary market revenues. All figures above are approximations published in various
industry trade publications.
Most of the above-mentioned films were shown for the first time at the festival circuit and sold at
that time. In addition to the one-time fee for the sale of the film, another 15-75% royalty rate is
generally negotiated into the agreements.
In the case of Napolean Dynamite, the agents/producers negotiated a share of 75% of the movie's
profits, less advertising and marketing expenses. The film grossed $45 Million domestically,
resulting in $20,000,000 to investors, not including revenues from foreign box office or other
sources.

ASIAN FILM LOCATIONS ANALYSIS
Prince of Malacca is set to be filmed in Asia primarily in India, Jordan and Southeast Asia.
A fishing boat speedily hurrying in Strait of Malacca
Films which have featured India, Jordan and Southeast Asia in their storyline have done well in
the past.
Since the 1920s, western film scouts have been traipsing through jungles, over rivers and around
islands in Southeast Asia to find the perfect location to add a bit of tropical spice to their
production, be it a documentary, action, drama, or love story. While many movies are set in SE
Asia, not all are filmed here – for example, the classic The Bridge on the River Kwai was set in
Thailand but filmed in Sri Lanka.
Below are some notable flicks that actually rolled cameras in Southeast Asia.
Apocalypse Now 2. Platoon 3. Rambo 4. The Killing Fields 5. The Man With the Golden Gun 6.
Tomorrow Never Dies 7. Lord Jim 8. Air America 9. The Beach 10. Tomb Raider 11. City of

Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum also known as “The Valley of the Moon” is a valley cut into the sandstone and
granite rock in southern Jordan.
Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence, who passed
through several times during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. He was renowned for his liaison role
during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign and the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during
the First World War.
His wartime activities are well depicted in the internationally fame Lawrence of Arabia, directed
by David Lean and filmed much of this 1962 film on location in Wadi Rum.
While Bollywood filmmakers run around the globe looking for exotic locales to shoot their
films, Hollywood directors in fact turn to India when they want to shoot 'abroad'.

THEMES OF SIMILAR FILM ANALYSIS
REINCARNATION
The main theme of Prince of Malacca is reincarnation.
Madhumati (1958)
Reincarnation has been the theme of many films, including Madhumati (1958), which was one of
the earliest Bollywood films of the theme. The film had its premiered at the Roxy Cinema near
Opera House, Mumbai, and received wide commercial success and helped Bimal Roy Production
make up for its past losses and became the highest grossing Hindi film of the year.
The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (1975)
Madhumati went on to become the source of inspiration for many later works dealing with the
theme of reincarnation in Indian cinema, Indian television, and perhaps world cinema. It may
have been the source of inspiration for the American film The Reincarnation of Peter Proud
(1975) (though that film was based upon a 1973 novel by Max Ehrlich) and the Hindi film Karz
(1980), both of which dealt with reincarnation and have been influential in their respective
cultures. The Reincarnation of Peter Proud and Karz may have also inspired the American film
Chances Are (1989).
The 2010 Thai film, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, won the Palme d'Or at the
2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Other feature films which have made reference to reincarnation;
1. The Three Lives of Thomasina 2. On a Clear Day You Can See Forever 3. Patton, 4. Audrey

DRUG CARTEL
Drug Cartel is the important sub-theme in Prince of Malacca.
American Gangster (2007)
The main antagonist in the current era of Prince of Malacca is a drug lord who operates a global
drug cartel.
Drug Cartel has been the theme of many hit films including The French Connection, License to
Kill, Clear and Present Danger, Blow, City of God, Scarface, The Last Stand, Savages,
American Gangster, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Traffic and Miami Vice.
The French Connection was made in 1971 with a budget of US$ 1.8 million; it made a total
revenue of US$ 75 million. The movie had got five Academy Awards including the Award for
Best Picture.
PIRACY
Piracy is another important sub-theme in Prince of Malacca.
The main antagonists in the 15th
century part of the movie are pirates in the Strait of Malacca;
they ultimately caused the deaths of the Prince of Malacca and the Princess of Singapura.
Piracy remains popular, especially with the blockbuster movies.
Hollywood has always loved a good pirate tale starting with Douglas Fairbanks in the old silent
days and on up through the phenomenal success of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
People always find adventure on the high seas; the following are the Top 10 Pirate Movies and
some of the best cinematic buccaneers to set sail with;
1. Captain Blood 2. The Crimson Pirate 3. Princess Bride 4. A High Wind in Jamaica 5. Pirates
of Penzance 6. Pirates of the Caribbean 7. The Black Pirate 8. The Black Swan 9. The Pirates of
Blood River 10. Peter Pan
JUNGLE
The jungle is another important theme of Prince of Malacca.
Films set in the jungle filled with peril and exotic fauna, tropical rainforests have long been a
source of cinematic adventure.
The jungle – vast, savage, and clamorous with the din of life continuing its primeval cycle, far
from the orderliness of civilisation. Since the silent era, when filmmakers took their cameras
around the globe to record for the first time far-flung places in motion for the benefit of science,
knowledge and spectacle, this last stronghold of prehistory has provided an alluringly exotic
setting for film adventures, an endless fount of jeopardy, colour and mystery.
In the 1930s, Hollywood furnished the world with colonial-era fantasies, full of pith-helmeted
explorers making their way through soundstage wonderlands of dappled light, pendular vines
and menacing menageries.
Crocodiles, toucans, elephants and tigers shared space with Tarzan, King Kong, dubiously
portrayed „savages‟ and a creeping morass of vegetation.
Werner Herzog‟s Aguirre, Wrath of God filmed in 1972 in the Amazon is one of the best jungle
experience.
The following 10 films are also some of the best jungle experience;
King Kong 2. Tarzan and His Mate 3. Death in the Garden 4. The Jungle Book 5. Apocalypse
Now 6. Fitzcarraldo 7. Romancing the Stone 8. The Emerald Forest 9. Tropical Malady 10.
Monsters
ISLAND
The island is another important sub theme of Prince of Malacca.
Since the dawn of the silver screen, Hollywood filmmakers have used dreamy, remote islands
around the world to set the scene for their blockbuster films.
The Blue Lagoon (1980) is one of the best island movies. The film was the ninth biggest box
office hit of 1980 in North America according to Box Office Mojo, grossing US$ 58,853,106 in
the United States and Canada. The film tells the story of two young children(Brooke Shields &
Christopher Atkins) marooned on a tropical island paradise in the South Pacific.
In Prince of Malacca the life and style of tribal people in an island in the Strait of Malacca is
well depicted.
There are many islands in the Strait of Malacca. In the Carey island in the Strait of Malacca, Mah
Meri tribal people are dwelling.
The men used to dance donning with a fearsome mask, akin to those made by Polynesian tribes,
stamping their feet and swinging their hips to the beat of a traditional drum as their costume,
made of woven pandan leaves, rustles in the tropical Malaysian heat, alongside women dressed
in skirts, sashes and origami-like tiaras also made of pandan leaves.
Carey Island
The Mah Meri ("Jungle People" in their tribal language) perform the annual ritual, which visitors
are welcome to watch, to honour the spirits of their forefathers on Hari Moyang, or "Ancestors'
Day", before going before the village shaman to receive their blessing.
Mah Meri women wearing their traditional dresses perform the "Main Jo-oh" dance
during the Ari Muyang festival in the Mah Meri village of Sungai Bumbun in Carey island
While they have settled in 10 different villages on Carey island, on the western coast of Malaysia
just 60 kilometres away from the capital Kuala Lumpur, little is known about their origins.
According to authorities, the Mah Meri were once a nomadic indigenous tribe but fled from the
southern coast of Malaysia to escape attacks by pirates decades ago.
At least four generations have lived on Carey island and are now known as sea gypsies, but their
official numbers have dwindled to about 2,000. They rely mainly on subsistence fishing
supplemented by gathering marine products such as seaweed, shellfish and edible plants that
grow on the island, which is separated from the mainland by the Langat river.
The Mah Meri observe Hari Moyang, which falls in the first quarter of the year, believing it will
protect their precarious livelihoods. The exact date is chosen by a council of elders, who are said
to be given the appointed day when visited in dreams by the spirits of their ancestors. Each
village then gathers around a Spirit House on Hari Moyang to pay homage to their forefathers.
CIA
The CIA is another important theme of Prince of Malacca.
Two offices of CIA Directorate of Intelligence have analytical responsibilities on drug
trafficking. The Office of Transnational Issues applies unique functional expertise to assess
existing and emerging threats to U.S. national security and provides the most senior U.S.
policymakers, military planners, and law enforcement with analysis, warning, and crisis support.
CIA Crime and Narcotics Center researches information on international narcotics trafficking
and organized crime for policymakers and the law enforcement community.
With its intrigue, espionage, and cloak and dagger politics, the CIA and its spies and operatives
are a perfect setting and cast of characters for film making and storytelling.
Spy dramas have been a favorite among movie goers for decades. Let's face it, spies make great
characters. And when it comes to the CIA, well, even James Bond had his CIA liaison, Felix
Leiter.
SPECIAL FORCES
The Special Forces is one of the important themes in Prince of Malacca.
Colonel Fayssal is from the Jordanian Special Forces and Sergeant Peter is from the US Marines.
Special Forces, be they military, naval, marine, air force, police or other, special forces have
always had a special place in “cinema for men”. You‟re sitting in the theater drinking your beer,
munching your popcorn, wishing you were one of these badass super men. Highly likely that you
are not. These aren‟t just regular old soldiers, these are the best of the best, working like a Swiss
clock, performing under the craziest circumstances, accomplishing hellish missions. They‟re
having fun saving the world, and because they are secret they‟re doing it for the honor, not the
glory.
Some of the best world's special forces are British SAS, Jordanian Special Forces, US Delta
Force, US Marines and US Navy SEALs.
US Marines Jordanian Special Forces
The US Marines are the nation‟s expeditionary armed force, positioned and ready to respond to
crises around the world. Marine units assigned aboard ships or at bases abroad stand ready to
project U.S. power into crisis areas. Although Marines have a wide variety of individual
assignments, the focus of every Marine is on combat; every Marine is first a rifleman. The war
movie loves Marines. Marines are repeatedly decorated and honored in war movies, because of
their heroic derring-do.
Jordanian Special Forces are the Special Operation Forces of the Jordanian Armed Forces; their
primary roles include reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, search and evacuation, intelligence
gathering combat, and the protection of key sites. They are also charged with carrying out
precision strikes against critical enemy targets. They are equipped and trained to be able to
operate behind enemy lines for long periods without any logistical support.
WALL STREET
Wall Street (1987)
The Wall Street is one of the sub themes in Prince of Malacca.
The film Wall Street (1987) and its sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010) exemplify
many popular conceptions of Wall Street as a center of shady corporate dealings and insider
trading.
In Prince of Malacca, Johnny - a Wall Street billionaire – who thrives gathering political
intelligence and legislative decisions from a Senator in Washington exploiting them for his
Insider Trading.
After the arrest of Raj Rajaratnam, a hedge-fund manager, Johnny is concerned whether he also
would be in trouble in a future day.
According to Forbes magazine, Rajaratnam is a self-made billionaire and was the 236th richest
American in 2009, with an estimated net worth of $1.8 billion. On October 16, 2009, he was
arrested by the FBI on allegations of insider trading.
Insider trading is illegal on Wall Street. It is now illegal in Congress too.
A dangerous legal loophole existed which allowed members of Congress and high-powered
executive branch appointees to exploit their inside knowledge of the financial industry in order to
turn personal profit.
President Obama sign in 2012 a law banning insider trading by members of Congress,
the president and federal workers.
President Obama in 2012 signed a law cracking down on insider trading on Capitol Hill.
The law comes after a six-year effort by a small group of House lawmakers to ban insider trading
by members of Congress. The law makes it illegal for members of Congress or their aides to use
information that they gather about pending or prospective government activity to trade stocks.
The Wall Street Journal articles found that more than 50 members of Congress traded actively
and dozens made trades in companies that they help oversee in their committee assignments.
