TechnologyICT games

https://pbskids.org/peg/games/happy-camel -This game is good to start discussions about heavier and

lighter. Your child must weigh some items on a balance scale and decided which is heavier. It also shows what happens if

two items weigh the same.https://play.fisher-price.com/en_gb/gamesandactivities/

onlinegames/index.htmlThis is an amazing website that has lots of games to support many of the areas of learning in the EYFS. If playing the ABC

game be sure to also talk about the sound as well as the letter names and also to draw the lower-case letter too. This will help your child make the links between all parts of learning.

Dough DiscoKeep up the dough disco weekly (every day

if you can) only for a few minutes each time; it could be a little morning/after lunch work out. Try to find new finger rhymes, use new songs, try new moves and let your child be

the conductor to keep it interesting

Feelings and emotions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIfLgHBwYx4 – In my heart.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih0iu80u04Y The Colour Monster.

Watch one or both stories on YouTube together and use them to start up a conversation about

feelings. What feelings can we have? What might make us feel that way? How might we act if we feel that way? What could you do to make someone feel better if they feel worried, scared or angry? Maybe you could draw a picture of an angry monster or a sad monster and draw/talk

about why they feel that way. Note – we have explored these stories in

nursery before so the children may remember the story and be able to talk to

you about some of the things that they remember from the story before you read it.

Can you find things around your house to represent the colours in the story.

Easter crafts1.Make your very own chick in an egg. Find an old peg, create your chick and then make the egg. See if you can do the cutting to cut the egg open.

2. You could also

Finger puppets!Choose one of your favourite stories and create some finger puppets from that story like the ones below. Cut some holes and put your fingers through as the legs. Can your finger puppets walk? Can they play football with a small round object e.g. a marble? Have lots of fun with your puppets. When Miss Sims was little this was one of her favourite things to make a play with! Use any materials that you wish to make them and when they are made use them to play a game or do a puppet show based on your favourite story.

Physical timeSet up an obstacle course either inside or outside in the garden. Use whatever you can find to make obstacles to

crawl under, climb over, go in and out, jump from etc. To add an element of maths you could use a timer on a phone to see how long it takes and then challenge each other to do it faster next time. Who will be the fastest in

the whole family? Cosmic yoga

On YouTube type in Cosmic yoga and choose a different themed story to do together as a family each day. This is a lovely half an hour of concentrating, storytelling and physical activity that is fun for all.

InvestigationFloating and sinking

Fill up the bath and choose some items around your house to test to see if they float or sink. Have a guess before and then test it to see if what you thought would happen did. Then see if you can find a way to make some of the items that sank float. Maybe you could create a boat from items in your home. Maybe you could use foil to try and make a floating dish that will hold some of your items. How many will it hold before it sinks?

Shadow drawingsIf you get a sunny day, take some paper and

dinosaurs or animals into the garden. Lay then in the sun and

draw around the shadow. When you have the outline you can colour and add

details to your drawings!

have a go at making a chick with your handprints as the wings. See if you can have a go at drawing around your own hand or you could do it with help. Also have a go at doing some of the cutting.

3. Make an Easter card. You could make some Easter cards and pictures at home for friends and family. Then you could go and deliver them through people’s doors to let them know you are thinking of them even if you can’t see them. You could also video call them to show them the pictures/cards you have made for them if you would prefer to stay home. It would also be lovely to make an Easter display in your window at home to spread some happiness and joy to others as

Scavenger hunt Using the attached sheet find the items around your home. Can you sort the objects once you have found them by similarities e.g. all small objects. Can you say

what you have the most or least of?

This looks fun!

Set up a spider web for your children to climb through! Don’t touch the sticky web! Go high, go low but be very careful! You could use tape, paper strips, string, wool or anything else to make the web.

they walk by. This could include decorated Easter eggs, bunnies, chicks, decorated crosses, paper chains, flowers and anything else that you can think of. There are lots of lovely ideas online. You could even try the stained-glass window above if you are feeling extra creative and brave (as long as the paint washes off). Use masking tape to create the structure and paint on a window to create Easter images!

Checklist

A checklist has been uploaded into the home learning area on the website called My Starting

School Checklist. On this are lots of skills that would be useful for the children to know if they are starting school in September.

This could be handy to focus on over the coming weeks by

setting activities and building them into the routine to help

your child along the way in their learning journey. Remember

that all children are different and

at different stages so do not get overwhelmed just work on a few

skills per week.
