Tuesday 2nd June – lessons for the day Hello everyone, today we have some math, spelling, writing, PE and PSHE activities. Don’t forget you can email us examples of anything you do and we will respond or, if you like, you can share it to our Milton Park Facebook page. Please share any work with us through the year group email, Facebook or the blog once your year group is up and running. If any of the work set is too challenging, or there is anything unclear to you, please email the Year 2 team – [email protected] Expected Daily Activities Reading to an adult or to yourself for 20 minutes. Practise your 2, 5 and 10 times table on Times Table Rock Stars. Have a play on any of the games on Numbots. PE challenge – Explore the cards in the yoga section. Practice doing the poses and getting your breathing calm and slow. Look at the animal cards and see if you can make up new names for any of the poses. Read the story and then make up one of your own which includes all of the poses. We have begun to use the wonderful resources provided by Oak national academy. Some of it may go over learning already covered by white rose but practice is important. There is a section on the page called extra maths challenges to give you an opportunity to practice a range of maths skills.

2) Spelling – 10 minutes I can spell Year 2 common exception words.

Below are the Year 2 common exception words which, under normal circumstance, children are expected to be able to spell at the end of the year. This week, we would like you to choose 5 different words to spell and focus on learning each day.

Here are some strategies you can use to help you with learning the words. Learn the word in chunks. Look for the word in your reading books. Find out the meaning of the word. Try spelling the word backwards. Spell the word in coloured pens – a different colour for each

letter. Practise saying rhyming words – e.g. if you were learning the word ‘poor’, you

could think of other words which it rhymes with – poor, door, floor Spell the word using materials play-doh or

plasticine or anything you can find around the house.

3) Writing focus – 20 minutes I can find and use verbs in a set of instructions.A verb is a……………………………………………………………………………………Read the instructions for building a parachute.Where are the verbs? Build your own parachute then write about what you did and how well it works.

4.Science I know how to improve the world around me
