Salesbury Nursery Class T-Rex Autumn Term 2019 Week 6: 6th December 2019 Dear Parents and Carers, This week saw the arrival of two small kindness elves in nursery. They have been leaving messages and notes for the children, encouraging them to do kind things for one another and for people around them in the community. On Monday the elves left us a book called “Grumpy Gertie”. In it, Gertie seems to make everyone around her including the flowers and the sun feel miserable, until a monkey shows her how to have fun and smile. The children learnt that such a simple act, such as smiling at someone, can make a huge difference to that person’s day. We have also celebrated the start of advent. The children looked at paintings from around the world depicting the scene when Angel Gabriel told Mary she was going to have God’s special baby. The children talked about the range of different emotions Mary might have had from excited to scared and worried. Mrs Duerden worked with small groups of children to help do jobs around the school. They began the huge task of keeping the path free from leaves. We have also started our art project, exploring different printing techniques. The children rolled paint onto Perspex then drew a Christmas image in the paint using a cotton ear cleaner. It was great fun and if the drawing went a bit wrong, all we had to do was roll the paint and start the picture again. We also explored printing with bubble wrap and created images to represent the phrase “God is good, God is great.” Our EYFS mission

Week 6: 6th December 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week saw the arrival of two small kindness elves in nursery.

We also explored printing with bubble wrap and created images to represent the phrase “God is good, God is great.”

Have fun in paint! Put a small amount of paint on an old tray or flat surface and spread it around. If you have an old painting roller, use that. Draw a design in the paint then carefully put paper over the design and press firmly. Lift off the paper to reveal the picture. You could even create your own wrapping paper if you have any big sheets of paper or lining paper.
