Pride Press As many of you may recall from last year, I began pursuing my doctorate at Lipscomb University. It has certainly been every bit of the the intense and accelerated program it promised to be. However, I am happy to report, at this point, I am half way through. Woo Hoo! I am still every bit as committed to maintaining a focus on making sure PGES continues to be a top notch place for our children to learn, grow, and know they are loved. Again this year, there will likely be events afterschool that I will not be able to attend and times where I may not be able to respond to emails or messages within 24 hours, as I would like, due to evening classes and being in the middle of writing my dissertation. If you don’t see me at an afterschool event or if I don’t reply to an email as promptly as you are accustomed to, please know it is likely because I am in class. I am researching the new teacher licensure model the state of TN will be implementing in 2019 called edTPA. I have enjoyed learning about edTPA and I am excited to have the opportunity to make recommendations for ways universities across our state can make the implementation of this new licensure model as smooth as possible. As many of you may recall from last year, I began pursuing my doctorate at Lipscomb University.

Mrs. Chambers-Wood’s Counselor Corner

In guidance classes, we have been discussing COMMUNITY. We named our community Poplar Grove Elementary School. It is important to know our community, its members, and our job within that group. We talked about the importance of everyone's roles and how we are all different and that is great thing! When we know each other and accept our differences, then we will care about each other and try to always BE NICE to one another. As always, we end every lesson with our STOP and THINK motto. If we STOP and THINK about the words we choose, the decisions we make, and the way we act, we will have a COMMUNITY of caring students who will be ready to LEARN. Also, the character word for the month of October is RESPONSIBILITY. "Stop and Think, Is it Nice? Is it Kind? If it is NOT, Don't do it!"Love, Mrs. Chambers -Woods

If you have not already linked your Kroger Plus card to PGS it is not too late. Kroger sends us a check four times a year based on the amount of purchases our PGS families make. You can link your card by going to www.kroger.com and following the directions for “Community Rewards.” Thanks for helping us earn FREE money! Are you more of a Publix shopper? Stop by the office or email your child’s teacher for a Publix reward card. PGES gets a percentage of money spent every time you shop. Don’t forget to tell all your friends and family about these two great, easy, and FREE ways they can support our sweet school.
