What is The P.R.I.D.E of Halifax
• Open to all HCC males, however, its primary objective and funding is designed to improve academic performance, retention, graduation, and four-year college attendance rates of African American males
Access
• Focus on Learning Coaches – single point-of-contact resource persons and problem solvers (academic success coaches trained in developmental advising, mentoring, career exploration, financial aid, etc.,). Monitor student from point of acceptance to graduation & transfer

Internships• Internships are off-campus
work opportunities which provides valuable work experience in an area closely related to their future career aspirations. The internship component is framed just as the workship with the student being granted to opportunity to work a maximum of 10 hours per week at $7.00 per hour.

Workships• Workship are on-campus work
opportunities. Similar to the federal work study program, which helps develop a good work ethic (punctuality, communication skills, multi-tasking). Ideally, students complete a workship opportunity for at least one semester before they are transferred to an off-campus internship. Students are able to work a maximum of 10 hours per week at $7.00 per hour.
