musicgarage.org rehearsal • performance • production • community PRESS RELEASE JANUARY 3, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SOUP’ERSTITION NITE: JAZZ, ART & SOUP BENEFIT FOR JAZZGARAGE.ORG YOUTH  SLC JAZZ SYNDICATE & ARTIST ANDY NELSON TO STAGE JAZZ CONCERT & ART SHOW JAN 13th Salt Lake City, UT – The Salt Lake City Jazz Syndicate is a modern jazz quartet that has partnered with painter Andy Nelson to stage a benefit concert and art show, ‘Soup’erstition Night’ on Friday the 13 th of January on the new MusicGarage.org soundstage and art gallery at 389 West 1700 South to help raise funds for the JazzGarage.org after- school youth music program at MusicGarage.org. The Salt Lake City Jazz Syndicate, led by 21-year old bassist and University of Utah music student, Ski Nelson are an international ‘stew’ of modern jazz personnel with two Argentines; Max Plaza on piano and Federico Selis on drums with Soprano Saxophonist, Kachabee Abdullah and Ski Nelson on bass. Steve Auerbach will open with a 30-minute set. JazzGarage.org is among the new ‘garages’ (RockGarage, BluesGarage, etc) for Utah musicians at MusicGarage.org. The Salt Lake City Jazz Syndicate was among a dozen musical acts that played a set for the Grand Opening of the new MusicGarage.org rehearsal and production facility on December 2 and 3, 2011. The quartet enjoyed the acoustics and ambience of the new facility so much that they will return to MusicGarage.org on Friday the 13 th of January to play this benefit and to record both audio and video at MusicGarage.org. Unlike nightclubs, MusicGarage.org gives artists control over audio and video media capture with discreet digital audio and multi-camera video. MusicGarage.org events are streamed live on t he ‘MusicGarage TV’ page of MusicGarage.org so that people can watch and comment around the world in real time. MusicGarage.org Director, Steve Auerbach hopes to get a good video and live recording, perhaps to be published on his Uwanna? Records label where this group will be in company with the other artists on the label such as Ike Willis - vocalist and guitarist on more than 30 Frank Zappa CDs. MusicGarage.org is a program of the non-profit Utah Arts Alliance with the only fully-equipped (amps, keyboards, drums and PA a re included in rental) hourly rehearsal studio in Salt Lake City. MusicGarage.org also includes a showcase venue and art gallery. The new facility offers all genres and ages of musicians a place to rehearse and stage showcases with live audio and video recording and streaming on the ‘MusicGarage TV’ page at MusicGarage.Org. The SLC Jazz Syndicate and other music, arts, dance, spoken word and performance art are the kinds of art that Auerbach wants to see performing at MusicGarage.org.
