    JazzGarage After-School Youth Jazz Music Program Launches in January 2012New Jazz Music Program Serves Intermediate-to-Advanced Youth Jazz Musicians With Big Opportunities

    Salt Lake City, UT MusicGarage.Org is expanding on theRockGarage youth performance programs success with thelaunch of a youth jazz performance program called JazzGaragefor intermediate-to-advanced music students in January 2012.

    David Halliday, a recording artist, producer, Associate AdjuncProfessor at the University of Utah, Director of the WestminsterCollege Jazz Ensemble and former member of New OrleansGALACTIC funk/jazz group has accepted a position as Jazz

    Director for the new after-school program.

    The JazzGarage Youth program seeks to fill a gap forintermediate-to-advanced young jazz players who want toperform in a jazz band. Starting withjazz combos with eventuaexpansion to big band, the youth work through winter and springto develop a repertoire for summer outdoor concerts and more.

    JazzGarage meets weekly for two-hour after-school rehearsalson Wednesdays from 5:30 7:30 pm in eleven-week seasons.Each season climaxes in a weekend of seasonal performances

    JazzGarage costs about $150/month with sliding fees based onfamily income and scholarships are available upon approval.

MusicGarage.Orgs partnership with Sony Creative Software providessoftware site licenses for computer-based music production classes that are provided both on-site and in Utahs public schools. MusicGarage.Org serves public and private music educators

    and their students with affordable add-on music programs that helps music teachers retainstudents and provide performance opportunities for their students at venues, events, fairs andfestivals statewide.
