The French Quarter & New OrleansWhat better setting for a New Orleans stay than the historic French Quarter. Fine dining, music, and culture abound in this site of the original city of New Orleans. View the Mississippi river from its banks or enjoy a ride on a riverboat. No need for a car, there is so much to see within a short walk. Jackson Square, the origi-nal city center is surrounded by museums and restau-rants. The French Quarter is also home to the urban portion of Jean Lafitte National Park, encompassing two sites in the French quarter, including one devoted to New Orleans Jazz. The Audubon Aquarium and the Insectarium are also right there, offering glimpses of animal life in and around the Big Easy. The World War II Museum, one of America’s top museum attraction, is also close, offering history, food venues, and often a good nighttime show in the Stage Door Canteen. The St. Charles Streetcar allows access to uptown, Audu-bon Park and Zoo, and the Garden District, the original “American” part of town. The Canal Streetcar will take you to City Park, home of the New Orleans Museum of Art and the largest stand of ancient live oak trees in America.
