8:00 am - 10:30 am Virtual Surgical Planning Pearls for Orthognathic Surgery – Step by Step Nuts and Bolts

Dr. Dan Spagnoli, Moderator Dr. Brian Farrell and Katie Weimer, Speakers

Virtual surgical planning is rapidly becoming the standard for correction of complex dentofacial deformities. Computer aided computer simulation provides tremendous preoperative insight into the dental and skeletal movements anticipated, osteotomy orientation and positioning, and accurately transfers the virtual plan to the operating room.  The virtual planning may provide a smoother intraoperative experience with adjunctive resources such as cutting guides, jigs to assist in segment orientation and a template for bone grafting contours. The efficiency offered by computer aided surgical simulation can return hours to the surgeon’s day through a more streamlined presurgical workup, smoother intraoperative experience, confidence in the surgical accuracy that can in turn be devoted to other professional or personal obligations. The presentation will include an interactive planning session with Medical Modeling to illustrate treatment planning of complex dentofacial deformities. The attendees will appreciate this “laboratory step by step” discussion.

pleasing esthetics, function, durability, cleans-ability and crisp phonetics don’t happen by luck — all begin with facial analysis. Overlaying the skill set of laboratory Technician , prosthodontist, imaging specialist and Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon produces clear choices. Using technology the fundamentals are communicated through the implant treatment process.

7:00 am - 8:00 am Sign in and Continental Breakfast

8:00 am - 10:30 am Permadontics Pearls – Full Arch Reconstruction with Immediate Load Prosthesis

Dr. Dan Spagnoli, Moderator Dr. Joel Berger and Dr. Ian Aires, Speakers

Full arch immediately loaded prosthetic reconstruction is an approach that has been done for many years, initiated by dr. Schnitman’s article. An approach will be discussed in which preoperative planning using stereolithic models allows one to predictably do the procedure in a cost eff ective and time eff ective manner, putting the implants in the ideal bone, minimizing graft ing procedures and allowing a highly predictable outcome. Approximately three thousand implants have been placed over a four-year period with only 32 failures using this approach.

10:30 am - 11:00 am Break

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Current Trends in Implant Placement & Loading for Fully Edentulous Patients – Immediate vs. Traditional Loading

Dr. Dan Spagnoli, Moderator Dr. Hamid R. Shafi e, Speaker

Traditional delayed loading techniques and two-stage implant placement techniques have become less popular over the past few years. patients are looking for treatment options that avoid multiple surgeries and prolonged treatment. Current trends in implant design, diff erent loading approaches and related prosthetic options will be discussed.

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Principles of Attachment Selection for Implant Supported Overdenture and their Impact on the Surgical Approaches

Dr. Dan Spagnoli, Moderator Dr. Hamid R. Shafi e, Speaker

Traditionally surgeons place multiple implants for fully edentulous patients and then dentists would fabricate the overdenture according to the existing implants. Attachment assemblies perform optimally and last longer if implants are placed within specifi c distance and loca-tions. Surgeons should know about overdenture attachments so they place the implants accordingly.

1:00 pm - 1:30 pm Faculty Panel Discussion
