About the CommunityMonroe Public Schools was established in1909. The district is located in thesoutheast corner of Snohomish County,Washington. It encompasses 82 squaremiles serving the city of Monroe andsurrounding unincorporated areasincluding the area south of the SnohomishRiver known as Maltby. Strong localhistory of farming with agriculture stillplay a prominent role today.

Once the fastest growing area in thestate, Monroe is on track for growthagain. Situated at the junction of twomajor state highways, the Monroecommunity boasts many amenities tosupport a thriving suburban area. Just40 minutes from downtown Seattleprovides easy access to metropolitan

Skills and QualificationsThe Board seeks candidates with these desired skills andqualifications:

Exceptional communication skills and knowledge with theability to create and enhance support from staff and thecommunity in a strategic and comprehensive way.A strong academic focus with a thorough understandingof instructional design and teaching strategies.The ability to engage the community in support of aclearly articulated, long term vision for the district.Sound fiscal management skills.An understanding of the school construction process.A willingness to reside in and be an active part of theMonroe community.An experienced educational leader, preferably withexperience as a classroom teacher and building leveladministrator.
