AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT

OVERVIEW

In our show we engage the audience to participate musically. Scientifically there are significant health benefits of singing and engaging musically with percussive clapping as a group/community.

The Telegraph

‘While the feel-good effects of singing have long been recognised, there is growing evidence that it can have a positive impact on a range of physical and psychological conditions, leading to campaigns for singing on prescription. In previous studies experts claimed that joining a choir could improve symptoms of Parkinson’s, depression and lung disease. Swedish research has suggested that it not only increases oxygen levels in the blood but triggers the release of “happy” hormones such as oxytocin, which is thought to help lower stress levels and blood pressure.’

We believe that everyone has an instrument to sing and by introducing a safe environment for the audience to connect to their own voice in a group we can achieve and introduce the exciting element where they feel alive and take something away with them. Whether it inspires them to join a choir or singing group, plus the social benefits it would have in their local community. Alinta, lead vocalist can also offer a singing workshop for all ages.

DESCRIPTION / DETAILS

Having worked vocally professional over 15 years in musical theatre and jazz bands Alinta has the expertise to share her knowledge and experience with people who don’t get the opportunity to explore their given instrument. The beauty of the voice is that they needn’t bring anything to do the workshop. She’ll create a safe environment for people to feel comfortable and unleash their inner voice, working through exercises in groups where they end up singing in three part harmony and canons. Singing is something that is centuries old and is a way of bringing people together and telling stories. This workshop endeavours to achieve a sense of discovery and enjoyment of singing as an individual and a group. The duration of the singing workshop is 1 hour.

COST

A one off fee of $300 per session with unlimited number of participants.

TARGET AUDIENCE FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The workshop is for any age, families, young and old, for any level of experience, beginner to advance. There is something to learn for everyone. We’d organise a radio interview talking about the benefits of singing for mental health as well as connecting as a community is a great way to engage an audience as well as announcing it as an event at our concert Jazz and the Silver Screen.

AUDIENCE REVIEWS

Lead vocalist, Alinta Chidzey’s unequivocal smile could provide the energy to light a small village, her warmth and generosity invade the stage and her sound, a timeless voice, telling the tales from a song-scape that bounces between jazz and classical and all that’s in between. Orchestrated by talented violinist Roger Young and Remco Keijzer, the standards weave a new magic where the band; writers, arrangers and seasoned performers, come together by choice to bring an energetic, thoughtful and one-of-a-kind show from the best of Melbourne’s musical theatre, jazz and classical scene.
