I-SMILE TM SILVER A Pilot Project for Older Iowans I-Smile TM Silver is a pilot project to help older Iowans achieve optimal oral health. It is modeled after the I-Smile TM program for children. The Iowa Department of Public Health has contracts with Lee, Scott, and Webster County Health Departments to operate I-Smile TM Silver locally. In each health department, a dental hygienist serves as the I-Smile TM Silver coordinator. The coordinators work with community partners to increase awareness about the importance of oral health, provide trainings for direct caregivers and other health care providers, and help older Iowans make dental appointments and nd ways to pay for care. Presentations More than 3,250 community members have attended a presentation by an I-Smile TM Silver coordinator. Care Coordination inutes: The average time spent by an I-Smile TM Silver coordinator during each care coordination contact. Trainings More than 870 health care providers have been trained by an I-Smile TM Silver coordinator.
