I-SMILETM SILVER A Pilot Project for Older Iowans
I-SmileTM Silver is a pilot project to help older Iowans achieve optimal oral health. It is modeledafter the I-SmileTM program for children.
The Iowa Department of Public Health has contracts with Lee, Scott, and Webster County Health Departments to operate I-SmileTM Silver locally. In each health department, a dental hygienist serves as the I-SmileTM Silver coordinator. The coordinators work with community partners to increase awareness about the importance of oral health, provide trainings for direct caregivers and other health care providers, and help older Iowans make dental appointments and fi nd ways to pay for care.
