Sydney Olympic Stadium

• Northcroft (Australia) provided Project Management advice during the construction of the stadium, which was procured under a Design, Build & Operate arrangement.

• 110,000 capacity stadium was the largest ever built for the Olympic Games.

• The seating bowl, includes covered seating for 56,400 spectators and is designed to ensure good vision from every seat, 12,000 tonnes of structural steel and 20,000 truck loads of reinforced concrete were used in the construction.

• The roof is equal to 115 tennis courts and each roof arch is longer than the combined wing span of four jumbo jets.

• More than 50 kilometres of lines dispense beer to 53 bars around the stadium!

The National Stadium, Beijing Olympics 2008

• Northcroft were appointed Risk Managers for the bid evaluation for the proposed 110,000 seat main stadium for the 2008 Olympics.

• The stunning design is based on the concept of a “birds nest” created from massive steel box columns and beams wrapping around the stadium facilities.

• The scheme includes a closing roof structure, extensive athlete and VIP facilities, health & fitness centre, restaurants, offices and underground parking.

The National Swimming Centre, Beijing Olympics 2008

• Northcroft were appointed Risk Managers for the proposed National Swimming Centre for the 2008 Olympics.

• Following an international competition, the designs of 10 finalists were technically evaluated and 3 were short-listed.

• The scheme includes competition and warm-up pools, 4000 permanent and 13,000 temporary seats, athlete and VIP facilities.

• The design includes multi-functional leisure facilities including a leisure pool, health & fitness centre and restaurants.

• Appointed by consortium who had won thePFI project to design, finance and operate the stadium.

• Worked previously with Obayashi on numerous projects who were part of the PFI Consortium.

• Continue to work on Olympic Park for further development of the park.

London 2012?

Northcroft have been appointed on the Slalom Canoeing Venue.

It is planned to have the venue complete within plenty of time of 2012, with a view to holding an International Event prior to the Olympics.
