LIGHTSOURCE SYSTEM – KEY POINTS

• Data gathering: different wind directions, speeds and turbulence intensities

• Data analysis: gas dispersion model used for forward model

• Inverse problem: solved using a Monte-Carlo Markov Chain technique (numerous candidate sources evaluated to find best fit to data)

• Bayesian statistics give confidence estimates

• As data volume increases, fewer locations can satisfy data constraints.

SUMMARY

• Installed LightSource systems at all 3 injection well pads – fully functional before the start of injection

• Release test demonstrated that we can detect and locate CO2 emissions in the vicinity of the injection well pads

• CO2 source detection:

• Estimate that a release rate of ~50 kg/hr can be detected on the well pads

• Expect that larger releases off the well pads can also be detected

• Good initial results
