Managing Change and StressActivity descriptionThe activity will generate students to come with ideas for future business and will make them present their plans with a narrow and strict time limit. They will merge into bigger groups (of 4) in order to come up with the best idea. They will present it to the Sharks (judges) and they will select the best idea.

The selected 2 groups of 4 will meet in another room while the rest of the class is trained to be Sharks (judges). The 2 groups present. The Sharks make the decision and select the winner.

A presentation will summarize the concepts and show the application of them during the activity done.

StructureActivity will be divided into 8 parts

1- Working on groups of 2 (separate class into Right and Left sides)2- Merging into groups of 43- Groups of 4 presenting to the Sharks (judges) (Right and Left at the same time)4- 2 groups of 4 selected (one from each side) meet in next room. While, we coach all the

remaining to be Sharks (judges) and put them into the middle front of the room5- 2 of the 4 will present from each side, however, in the last minute we switch one and give 15

sec. to train6- 2 Groups present7- Final decision from the Sharks – and deliver prize8- Presentation with moral and application to exercise.

Roles of Group We have to designate roles for each person in the group.

Roles will be divided into:

R1 – The one in charge of the Prezi and computer from parts 1 to 7, and help R4 with judges in parts 4-7

R2 – The one in charge of the left side (order, instructions and provide & collect papers) from parts 1-3, then from parts 4-7 will be in charge of the group selected from their side.

R3 – The one in charge of the right side (order, instructions and provide & collect papers) from parts 1-3, then from parts 4-7 will be in charge of the group selected from their side.

R4 – In charge of the Sharks (judges) from parts 1-7. Train them, help decisions and provide & collect papers from Sharks (judges)

Step by step of Activity

1- Working on groups of 2 (separate class into Right and Left sides)

Presentation of the activity / put Prize in front of desk (The prize should be tempting to look at, it could be a big plastic cup full of chocolates or candies).

R1 starts Prezi – shows initial image and instructions

R2 and R3 divides the room in two sections (left & right) and group class by groups of 2, and distributes a paper to each group.

R4 – selects Sharks (judges) – 4 people selected by choice (ie: most intimidating ones from the class). He takes them to the next room for training of 5 min.

R1 shows first instructions

Each group will come up with a Business idea, product or service in 2 min. They need to fill the paper provided in order to have a guidance for when they are going

to present it to the class and to the Sharks (judges) Ideas will be selected for the next round. Both of the group will stand in front of the desk, and present it in 2 min to the class and

Sharks. Include creative ideas Use sells pitch and look directly into the eyes of the Sharks looking for conviction. If you don’t have ideas, you can ask for a paper with an idea from the assistants

After they finish the 2 min, we say that we are going to start from the right.

Then we show a slide that says: just kidding…..!!

We join 2 groups of 2 to make groups of 4. R2 and R3 join the groups from each of their sides.

2- Merging into groups of 4

The groups of 4 will have 3 min to talk about the final business that 2 of the group are going to present. We say that they have 2 min to present to the Sharks

3- Groups of 4 Presenting to the Sharks (judges) (Right and Left at the same time)

Right before, we change it to 35 sec per presentation to the sharks that will be sitting in front of each side.R2 and R3 will request for all the papers from the groups. The selected papers will be given to the Sharks so they can see the idea and the detail. So the Sharks can make questions about the business. Each presentation of 35 sec will have 30 sec (could be more if we have fewer groups) for questions and answers from the Sharks to the group presenting. Defiant questions about success and reality will be helpful to make it more real. The Sharks will select 1 group from each side.

Page 3: Presentation Organization v4

4- 2 groups of 4 selected (one from each side) meet in next room. While, we coach all the remaining to be Sharks (judges) and put them into the middle front of the room

Sharks will announce their decision on which business they will invest after hearing all the groups. R4, R2 and R3 could help them make the decision.

R2 and R3 will take the groups to the next room and will give them the second more complete paper that will help them to prepare their presentation. They will have 5 min to prepare. And we say to them that they will have 5 min to present.

This time the groups will use the winning idea of the first round and elaborate with that idea in order to present their business with more data and figures of profitability and timing.

R1 and R4 will be preparing the rest of the class and the sharks to be all Sharks for the final presentation. We will sit them in the middle front to try to convey pressure while presenting.

R1 and R4 will coach them to avoid nodding, to be serious and to interrupt with questions that will show doubt of their project.

R1 will go to the next room and ask each team for their paper so it takes a picture and adds them to the presentation for the Sharks to see while they are presenting. This will show the numbers, ideas and other info for questions.

R4 will help the new group of Sharks to prepare defiant and difficult questions to the groups based on the papers that we got from them from the first round. Also watching the new papers uploaded by R1 in the screen.

In the meantime, R1 will be getting 1 image from internet that represent the 2 business so when they present they will have a logo or an image that will be in the back during their presentation.

5- 2 will present from each side, however, in the last minute we switch one and give 15 sec. to train

When the new groups come to the room R2 and R3 will take one of the presenters of each group and switch them. We will give them 30 sec to train them for the presentation.

However, then we tell them that their presentation will only last 2 min, with 2 min of questions from Sharks.

6- 2 Groups present

Each group presents for 2 min, then gets questions for 2 min from Sharks.

7- Final decision from the Sharks – and deliver prize

The Sharks will raise their hands voting for the best business idea that they want to invest and then prize will be given to the winning group.

8- Presentation with moral and application to exercise.
