Autumn leaves fall andare swept out of sight … The variety of tooth

colours can be compared with the colours of woods in autumn:

The special characteristics are changing with the age of the patient.

Page 3: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Prerequisites

For reconstruction of the special characteristics ofa young, an adult or an elder tooth

A user who is able to use the «NLT»,the Natural Layering Technique

A composite which comprises the whole range of tooth colours

New Micro-Hybrid-Composit colours

Unique Natural Layering Technique

Different levels of saturation

Basics

Developed by Dr. D. DietschiDentist resp. Dental artist, scientist and inventor of MIRIS from Geneva/Switzerland.

Produced by Coltène AG: More than 15 years of experiences in composite technology.

Natural Layering Technique: Concept based on the idea of a synthesis of light, material and colour which comes extremely close to the natural tooth.

Page 6: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

The Dentist should have the opportunity to use the Natural Layering Technique in order to achieve optimum results in the reconstruction of natural teeth.

Dr. D. Dietschi

MIRIS consists of:

Two basic fluorescence composite masses for the selection of dentin or enamel

Effect composite masses in order to create or imitate individual shades and opalescences

Page 8: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Dentin Masses Dentin Shades –

one single hue, one opacity

Creation of «Dentin Shades»1-2-3-4-5-6-7

The dentin masses have ahigh opacity and fluorescencewhich correspond to the naturaldentin shades.

Enamel Masses

«Enamel Shades» exist in a varietyof colours and with different degreesof opacities.

Creation of «Enamel Shades»

White Regular (WR) White Bleach (WB)Neutral Regular (NR) Neutral Trans (NT)Ivory Regular (IR) Ivory Trans (IT)

Effect Masses

Intended to reconstruct special characteristics of the tooth.

Blue (B): simulation of opalescent effects in incisal edgesGold (G): simulation of areas of high chromaWhite (W): simulation of white spots (hypoplasic lesions)White opaque (WO): to cover dark spots

Natural tooth Colour

Determining factors of the natural colour valueof a tooth.

Reason: Age determines the thickness of the enamel.

Page 12: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Young patients: colour value high

In young patients, enamel usually is white with market opalescent effects. At the incisal edge, the dentin lobes are fully covered with enamel. Dentin is rather light, with less alterations in its colour.

Page 13: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Result with MIRIS (young tooth)

Page 14: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Adults: colour value middle

In adult patients, enamel usually is less white and opalescent than in young ones; it is more neutral in colour, or is having a slight ivory tint. At the incisal edge, the dentin might be exposed and the lobe structure is being altered with a thinner enamel thickness. Dentin is getting darker.

Page 16: Presentation by Stephan Lampl Version 1.2

Elder patients: colour value low

In old patients, enamel is thinner and more translucent. At the incisal edge, the dentin is like a straight wall, with just a trace of the lobes and covered with a very thin layer of enamel. Dentin is dark, due to continuous dentin apposition.

Unique Shade selection system

The Miris dentin core, covered with glycerin is inserted into the Miris shades thanks to the superposition of dentin and enamel materials.

Selection of the dentin chroma in the cervical area with the Miris dentin shade core.

Selection of the enamel tint and translucencywith Miris enamel shade shell.
