Data is transferred to the PC overa short cable with a circular 6-pinMini-tin connector that plugs intothe back of the motherboard.

The term includes application software such as word processors whichperform productive task for users, system software such as operating

systems, which interface with hardware to provide the necessaryservices for application software.

Software is computer programming code that provides a computer withinstructions to perform specific task.

Software performs the function of the program it implements, either bydirectly providing instructions to the computer hardware or by serving asinput to another piece of software.

System Software includes compilers, loaders,linkers, and debuggers.

Application software comprises programs

Word Processing Software: This software enables the users to

create and edit documents. The most popular examples of thistype of software are MS-Word, WordPad, Notepad and some

other text editors.

Database Software: Database software allows the users to

store and retrieve data from databases. Examples are Oracle,MSAccess etc.

Spreadsheet Software: Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 and Apple Numbers

are some examples of spreadsheet software. Spreadsheet

software allow users to perform calculations.

Presentation Software: The software that is used to display

information in the form of a slide show is known as presentation
