    NYPD study in 2012 showed active shooter incidents occurred at 5types of locations: open commercial areas, office buildings, schools,

    factories, and warehouses

    Roughly half took place at commercial facilities

    38% of victims had a professional relationship to the attacker

    (Type II or III NIOSH classification)

    6% of victims had a FAMILIAL relationship to the attacker

    (Type IV)

    o Location physical description of the shooter(s)o Number and type of weapons being used

    o Number of potential victims at your location

    As a last resort and only if your life is in danger, attempt

    to incapacitate the shooter

    Act with physical aggression and throw items at the

    active shooter

    Otherwise, wait for the authorities, as the Active Shooter

    will engage in either "flight or fight."
