Methodology• Gathering of one year model data in netcdf format, daily

on AeroCom server– BSC-DREAM8b– ECMWF-F026 (assimilating MODISaqua/terra) plus other versions– INCA-forecast plus other versions– NMMB-BSC

• Analysing daily fields of AOD, coarse mode AOD,emission, wet removal, load, surface concentration of dust

• Comparing to Aeronet data level 2, sun and sky mode– ( Total AOD@550 )– Coarse mode AOD@550

Proposition for joint studyto explore usage of coarse AOD for evaluation

Complete and check diagnostics, newer model versions? Retrieve size from all tracer 3D field…

Correct budget analysis and analyse dust life time Use non-assimilated ECMWF model version

for comparison of impact of assimilation Explore the contribution of other components to coarse AOD,

remove cases which are not dust dominated

Investigate on annual basis: which cases are well captured, which pose problems

Add more models ?? Other years ??
