Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Amen Dear Parishioners and Friends,
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity refers to the "Triune" nature of God. The three Persons of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are described at the same time as also One God, in a perfect unity of oneness. In the Gospel of John, Jesus makes reference to himself in relationship to His Heavenly Father. "He who sees Me has already seen who sent Me" John 12:45. Jesus also promised his disciples that he would always be with them and that he would send the Spirit to be with them in John 14:26, "These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to you all that I said to you." We too are invited into relationship with the wonderful mystery of the Holy Trinity.
Along with Trinity Sunday this weekend we also remember our parish patroness, St. Rita of Cascia on this, her Feast Day, Sunday, May 22nd. She is an exceptional saint who led a remarkable life of great courage and prayerfulness.
As a religious sister, Rita was deeply prayerful. She was wonderful to the other sisters and lived a great example of holiness. She had a great devotion to the crucified Christ. Even a wound that never healed appeared on the forehead of Rita, just as Jesus had his crown of thorns. She lived until she was seventy six.
Today, many people have a devotion to St. Rita and pray, asking for St. Rita’s intercession for their own family and marital difficulties. Rita is a saint who understands human suffering and tragedy. She understands the loss of a spouse, and the loss of children, she became a religious sister filled with longing to love God with all her heart. She, like St. Jude, is described as the “Saint of the Impossible.”
Be sure to visit the beautiful statue of St. Rita found next to the confessional in the back of church.
O kind and compassionate Saint Rita, remember us and pray for us!
May God bless you this week! Fr. Gonyo

“Protecting Our Future”
Saint Rita Roof Campaign ~ Information Sessions
Registered parishioners received a packet in the mail which included a letter from Father Gonyo, a detailed pamphlet, and a pledge card, with regards to our Saint Rita Roof Campaign.
Ongoing maintenance is a reality for anyone who owns property, and after an architectural review of our buildings it has been determined that our 30-year-old Church and our 22-year-old Parish Center are in need of major repairs.
We ask you to prayerfully consider how best you are able to support this capital campaign and we hope you would consider a donation (that can be made payable over two years). Your support in this effort is most appreciated and we are hoping you will do what you can to help sustain the future of our facilities for years to come.
If you would like to learn more about this project and have any of your questions answered, please attend one of our Information Sessions. Each session will last approximately 45 minutes. There will be a brief presentation followed by Q&A. Light refreshments will be served.
ROOF CAPITAL CAMPAIGN INFORMATION SESSION
Sunday, May 22 at 11:30am in Room 1
Please join Fr. Gonyo and members of the Roof Campaign Committee to learn more about the needs of the parish, planned projects, and the capital campaign to raise funds. Thank you for your prayers and support of this project!

Prayer to St. Rita of Cascia Feast Day ~ May 22
St. Rita, come to my aid!
Faithful, loving wife and mother,
Humble, prayerful widow and nun,
Because of my need, answer my call.
St. Rita, come to my aid!
Beautiful rose born from the Savior's thorns,
Lead me far from anger and hate;
Guide my heart on peaceful paths with charity to all.
St. Rita, come to my aid! Helper, healer, holy friend
Hear my petitions. To Christ take this prayer,
For He is my Lord, my God, my All,
My hope in despair, my strength when afraid.
St. Rita, come to my aid!
St. Rita, answer my call. Amen.

Did you know ?
+ St. Rita School had its “Father/Daughter Dance” on
Friday night. What a wonderful night for the girls and their dads. This year was a luau theme, with music, crafts and a professional photographer to capture the night. God the Father was happy to see so many fathers and daughters together at St. Rita's.
+ This Thursday, May 26 is the Senior Tea, hosted by
the students of St. Rita School. Please join us for a morning of tea (or coffee!) and cookies with presents and songs from all the students of our school. It is an honor for the students to serve and be part of the St. Rita Community. All are welcome. Please RSVP to [email protected] to let us know you are coming.

WHY DO CATHOLICS GO TO CONFESSION?
Catholics receive the Sacrament of Confession-Reconciliation because we recognize that we are not perfect. We know that there are only two people who have walked this earth and did not sin: Jesus and Mary, His mother.
This Sacrament is truly a gift of mercy from our Lord. Of course, God knows that we have sinned and that this sin impacts our relationship with God. The relationship will be weakened through Venial Sin and even severed by Mortal Sin. God has made a way that allows us to acknowledge our sin, perform a penance for our sins, and receive the incredible gift of grace and peace upon leaving the Confessional.
These are some pretty big words. How do we know if we have committed a Venial or a Mortal sin?
A Venial Sin is an action or offense against God’s will that weakens our relationship with God and others and that hurts our personal character.
A Mortal Sin is an action or offense so seriously against God’s will that it completely separates a person from God. It is Mortal, since it leads to eternal death.
All Catholics are required to receive the Sacrament of Confession at least one time per year. If you commit a Mortal Sin, you must receive the Sacrament of Confession as soon as possible.
Make sure you take advantage of this year’s Jubilee of Mercy! You can receive a Plenary Indulgence (the remission of all temporal punishment for sins committed) if you
Receive Jesus in the Eucharist
Receive the Sacrament of Confession
Visit Sacred Heart Cathedral, enter through the Jubilee Door and pray the Creed
Pray prayers for the intentions of our Pope
