The PRA-APAL is a license code for an operator deviceto access the advanced public address server PRA-APAS for PRAESENSA. It adds advanced businessrelated public address functions to the function setprovided by the system controller. A PC or wirelesstablet, connected to the local IP‑network, functions asoperator device with an intuitive graphical userinterface, controlled by mouse or touch screen. Aheadset, connected via USB or Bluetooth to theoperator device, may be used for voiceannouncements and audio monitoring. The integratedweb server of the PRA-APAS keeps the operatordevice platform independent. Each operator deviceuses its own web browser as operator interface(Chrome preferred).

Advanced public address license• License for an operator device to connect to the
PRA-APAS advanced public address server.• Multiple operator devices may access the advanced
public address server simultaneously, each using itsown PRA-APAL license.
• Each license of an operator device may havemultiple, different, operator profiles on that device,with tailored functionalities for each user group.
Operator functions• Easy zone selection with picture representation of
zones.• Control of background music sources and volume
levels in selected zones. Music can be streamedfrom internal memory, but also from Internet musicportals and Internet radio.
• Live call recording of announcements withpre‑monitoring and playback to selected zones.
• Live and scheduled playback of stored messages.• Playback of text based announcements with
automatic (multi‑lingual) on‑line text‑to‑speechconversion.
Public address server• Industrial PC with pre-installed and licensed
software, acting as server to one or more operatorcontrol devices, and as interface between thesedevices and one PRAESENSA system.
• For security reasons the server has two ports toconnect to two different local area networks. Oneport is connected to the secure PRAESENSAnetwork, the other port to the corporate networkwith access to operator devices and (Firewallprotected) access to the Internet.
• License management of operator devices. Eachoperator device needs a PRA-APAL license foraccess to the advanced public address server.
• Integrated web server to keep operator devicesplatform independent. Each operator device usesits own web browser as operator interface.
• Storage of messages and music in internal memory,multiple audio formats supported.
Connection to PRAESENSA• The server connects to the PRAESENSA system
controller, using the PRAESENSA Open Interface forcontrol of business related functions. Higherpriority, emergency related functions are alwayshandled by the system controller.

• The server can stream up to 10 high quality audiochannels to the system controller, using the AES67protocol. The system controller converts the staticAES67 audio streams into dynamic OMNEOstreams.
Architects’ and Engineers’ SpecificationsThe advanced public address license is a code for asingle operator device to connect to and access anadvanced public address server. It shall be possible touse a PC or wireless tablet as operator device and usemultiple operator devices in parallel, requiring asmany licenses. Upon connection, each operator deviceshall be able to control parts of the public addresssystem, using a browser on the device as a graphicaluser interface, controlled by mouse or touch screen.The graphic user interface shall be optimized for usewith a 10" touch screen. The license code shall allowthe operator device to have several unique operatorprofiles on that device, with tailored functionalities foreach user. It shall offer easy zone selection for voiceannouncements, control of background music sourcesand volume in selected zones, the ability to make livecall recordings of announcements with pre‑monitoringand playback to selected zones, the ability to do liveand scheduled playback of stored messages, andplayback of text based announcements with automatic(multi-lingual) online text-to-speech conversion. Theadvanced public address license shall be used withthe Bosch PRAESENSA advanced public addressserver, PRA-APAS. The advanced public addresslicense shall be a Bosch PRA-APAL.
