Steam turbine:-It is a machine that convert potential or kinetic energy of steam into mechanical power.

Boiler In KSTPS ,Natural circulation ,tangentially fired over hanged type water tube boiler are used .

For ensuring safe operation of boilers furnace safe guard supervisory system (FSSS) of combustion engineering has been installed.

The boiler fuel firing system is tangentially firing system .

Coal handling plant Coal is brought to the KSTPS through rails.

There are 14 tracks in all for transportation of coal through rails.

Consumption of coal is 1400 metric tones per day. Coal is unloaded from wagons and transported to crusher house with the help of conveyer belts.

Ash handling plant Consists of especially designed bottom and fly ash plant. Main parts are:- Electro static presipitator Economizer Air pre heater boiler Water quenched ash from the bottom of furnace is carried out from boiler. Most of the ash still in fine particles form is carried out to elecrostatic presipitators where it is trapped by electrode charged with high voltage electricity.

Control room

The operation of unit is basically controlled from unit control room.

The scheme of control and instruction is provided to control the parameter and safe operation of equipment.

Automatic control is provided for combustion , feed water regulation and reheat temperature.

Ratio steam flow maintained automatically.
