Set assessment criterion Click Assessment to enter into criterion setting page

Example 1: If phase tripping time is smaller than 0.2s the test result will be regarded as Passed Example 2: If phase A tripping time meets the criterion of smaller than 0.2s and larger than 0.1s at the same time (AND logic) then the test result will be regarded as Passed

Example 3: If phase A does not have tripping then it will be regarded as Passed ---------------------------------------------- Note: The value of 0 (or 0.001) represents No Tripping ---------------------------------------------- Example 4: If phase does not trip or if tripping time is larger than 5s (OR logic) then the test result will regarded as Passed. Above mentioned logic will happen when we test the relay with back up protection. If we set a very long fault time the back up protection may be activated. With this criterion we can still get the test result marked as Passed

CT starpoint Here we define the direction of CT Normally we can determine the direction by looking at the bias equation in relay instruction manual Example: Equation Id=IA+IB indicates that CT direction is toward the protective device. Thus we need to select tow.prot.obj Example: Equation Id=IA-IB indicates that CT direction is toward the transmission line. Thus we need to select tow.line Bias. Equ. Here we select the equation which defines Ir/Id characteristic. This equation is available from relay instruction manual. Available bias equations include Ir=(|I1-I2|)/K1 or Ir=(|I1+I2|)/K1 Ir=(|I1|+|I2|*K2)/K1 Ir=max(|I1|,|I2|) Ir=(|Id-|I1|-|I2||)/K1 Ir=|I2| K1, K2 They are bias quantities in the bias equation and can be found in relay instruction manual Test Phase Here we can define to test only one phase or to test three phases at the same time. A, B, C: only one phase will be tested ABC: 6 currents will be injected into the

relay under test. And the tripping time for all three phase will be got

Resolution This setting is related to Search Mode selection.

For dichotomic mode this resolution setting will be used to assess the current tripping point. If the difference between the output value of the current tripping point and the value of the last un-tripping point is less than this setting then the current tripping point will be determined. For linear mode this resolution indicates the minimum step can be set. ---------------------------------------------- Note: We can set a bigger resolution to reduce the test time. But this may bring bigger error in the test result. ---------------------------------------------- Set assessment criterion Click Assessment to enter into criterion setting page Configure binary inputs Click button to enter into binary input configuration page

Example: OR logic In this example any tripping from A, B, or C will terminate the test process. Example: AND logic In this example when tripping for A, B, or C all comes then test process will be terminated and the tripping time for all three phased will be recorded. Add test point When we open the module a group of default test items/points will appear in the test list. On Ir/Id curve plain Move mouse pointer to Ir/Id curve display area and right click the mouse button, select Add Test Point

Direct Add In the parameter page click Add to add a new test point Quick Add Then we can see the following display window If we confirm the above setting we can add 5 more test points in the test list. See bellow.

df/dt This setting should be smaller than the actual relay df/dt setting in order to make relay trip

Fre. Start

When test starts the frequency will decrease from nominal system frequency and when it reaches the value set here it will return to the nominal value

Fre. Stop Test will terminate when frequency reaches this value

Fre. Step

Each time when frequency starts again to decrease this step frequency will be added to the end frequency of last cycle of frequency change

Hold time Step duration which should be larger than the actual relay tripping time setting

Principle of the test process: The following diagram indicates this test process

t1: prefault time t2: hold time F1: Fre. Start F2: Fre. Stop Fs: Fre. Step

Tripping time test The test item of tripping time test has the following parameter settings

df/dt This setting should be smaller than the actual relay df/dt setting in order to make relay trip

Fre. Stop This value should be smaller than the Trip freq. setting in group setting page

Hold time Step duration which should be larger than the actual relay tripping time setting

Principle of the test process: Frequency will start to decrease from the

Trip freq. value Since df/dt we set here is smaller than

relay df/dt setting relay the relay tripping is allowed

When frequency reaches the under-frequency tripping value the internal timer in the relay will be activated

Since the hold time is longer than the actual relay tripping time we can get the relay tripping time after delay time is over

This tripping time will then be recorded in the test result

df/dt test The test item has the following parameter settings

Fre. Stop This value should be smaller than the Trip freq. setting in group setting page

df/dt start From where the df/dt will change by step

df/dt stop Test will terminate when df/dt reaches this value

df/dt step For each cycle of test the df/dt will decrease with this step setting

46

Principle of the test process: Frequency will start to decrease from the

nominal frequency with the df/dt value set by df/dt start. Normally the df/dt start is larger than the actual df/dt setting so the relay will not trip for this first cycle of test.

When frequency reaches the end frequency defined by Fre. Stop the frequency will return to nominal frequency and a new cycle of test will start.

In the new test cycle the frequency will decrease with a new df/dt value which is one step (df/dt step) smaller than the df/dt used in last test cycle

Test will be terminated in the cycle where relay trips and the df/dt value used in this cycle will be recorded in the test result

current blocking test Some frequency relay may have the current blocking function integrated in it. For such relay we can also test its current blocking value. The test item has the following parameter settings

df/dt

This value should be smaller than the Trip freq. setting in group setting page so the df/dt blocking function will be disabled

Fre. Stop This value should be smaller than the Trip freq. setting in group setting page

I Start

From where the current starts to decrease. This star current should be smaller than the current blocking setting to enable the blocking

I Stop Test will terminate when current reaches this value

Principle of the test process: Nominal voltage will be applied for the

drop to V.Stop value (smaller than the voltage setting) defined here with the speed of dv/dt (smaller than dv/dt blocking setting) for a time defined by Hold time (longer than the trip time setting)

Tprefault: Prefault time setting. During this time the test set will supply normal system balance voltage. Trigger Mode There are four trigger modes can be selected here. Time Manual Bin. Input GPS Time: Fault status comes immediately after

prefault time is over Manual: Fault status comes after we press Bin. Input: Fault status comes immediately

after binary input H senses the trigger signal

GPS: Fault status comes immediately after

GPS pulse signal is received.

TripA, TripB or TripC If we select them then test set will sense the binary inputs for TripA, TripB and TripC separately and record their tripping time in the result. Example: tripping time record with selection of TripA, TripB and TripC In this example we can see the tripping time difference for phase A, B and C TripABC If we select them then test set will sense the binary inputs for TripA, TripB and TripC separately and record the latest tripping time as the tripping time for all three phase tripping Example: tripping time record with selection of TripABC In this example the tripping time is same for phase A, B and C

Set assessment criterion Click Assessment to enter into criterion setting page Example 1:

If phase tripping time is smal

ler than 0.2s the test result will be regarded as Passed Example 2: If phase A tripping time meets the criterion of smaller than 0.2s and larger than 0.1s at the same time (AND logic) then the test result will be regarded as Passed Example 3: If phase A does not have tripping then it will be regarded as Passed ---------------------------------------------- Note: The value of 0 (or 0.001) represents No Tripping ---------------------------------------------- Example 4:

If phase does not trip or if tripping time is larger than 5s (OR logic) then the test result will regarded as Passed. Above mentioned logic will happen when we test the relay with back up protection. If we set a very long fault time the back up protection may be activated. With this criterion we can still get the test result marked as Passed Set test points In the following example we have defined 5 test points in the test list 0.95*Vsvnset Set the voltage as 0.95 times of voltage-block setting. So the voltage-block function will be disabled. And the auto-reclosing process can be tested. 1.05*Vsvnset Set the voltage as 1.05 times of voltage-block setting. So the voltage-block function will be enabled. And the auto-reclosing process will not happen. 0.95*Phisvnset Set the angle as 0.95 times of angle-block setting. So the angle-block function will be disabled. And the auto-reclosing process can be tested. 1.05*Phisvnset Set the angle as 0.95 times of angle-block setting. So the angle-block function will be disabled. And the auto-reclosing process will not happen. Acc. Trip Here we check the tripping after reclosing on fault
