Lockout/Tag outA safety procedure used in manufacturing to ensure that dangerous machinery is properly shut down and not started up again prior to completion of maintenance or service working.

If multiple people are working on the same piece of equipment, each person has a unique key. This means the machine cannot be reenergized before all personnel are out of harms way

E-Stop vs LockoutAn E-Stop is not the same as a lockout! A lockout requires the hazardous energy to be completely isolated or blocked. An e-stop only pertains to a certain area or function of the machine.
