Faith in the StruggleBut the God of all grace…after that ye have suffered a while, make you

Have faith in the struggle.

Struggles can strengthen you. They are uncomfortable and humiliating, but if you continue facing them and moving through them, you will eventually get something out of them.

Stay in the struggle until the struggle does its work: refining, strengthening, and smoothing your rough edges.

Struggles can teach you patience. You need patience with your progress. There are lessons along the way. The more you learn, the better you can live your life. Struggles can teach you self-awareness. Once you are aware of your weaknesses, you can strengthen them. Once you are aware of your deficiencies, you can perfect them. Once you are aware of what breaks you down, you can build yourself up.

Struggles can reap confidence. The more struggles you face, the more you realize you can get through them and the more you understand that you can benefit by them. They can bring forth determination to do better, be stronger, and keep improving.

The struggle has its work. Don’t walk away before it is finished.

Have faith that the struggle will work on your behalf. Have faith that the struggle will produce the desired results. Have faith that in due time the struggle will result in victory.

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. Psalms 68:5

There are some hard truths and situations that are easily overlooked when discussing the challenges of fatherless children. During the June 2015 issue of the “The Church Tea”, I mentioned that the best way to eliminate the rejection felt by fatherless children was for each man to love the mother of his child. Actually, I neglected to acknowledge the extenuating circumstances of many children conceived … as a result of rape, incest, human trafficking or pubescent curiosity. Indeed, these children may never have the benefit of a birth father actually expressing loving feelings toward the birth mother. While there may be no love connection between the child’s biological parents, every child conceived deserves to be loved, cherished and nurtured by “both parents”. Sadly in today’s society and culture, we know that this is often not the case. So, in an effort not to male bash, here goes! Men have to step up to the plate of fatherhood. Financially providing for a child is only a small part of what fatherhood is all about. Being encouraging and interactive means so much more to a child. Children rarely remember how much money you spend on them, but they will remember who made them feel valued and important. Men must accept the challenge of being a strong presence in a boy’s life. Boys need the moral support from an older man. That man could be a grandfather, uncle or step-

father, but it’s imperative that a male child see what a real man looks like in his life.

Sometimes our males need to see “that bull in

the china cabinet”. Woman can teach a boy how to be honest, hardworking and an overall decent human being, which can’t be overstated.Still, personally I feel – if not impossible – it is undeniably tough for a woman to teach a boy how to become a man.
