TRANSCRIPT

Page 1: Postcard Bio for artist Claire Dunaway

I create my paintings by using layers of oil, acrylic, crackle paint, gloss varnish, and encaustic (beeswax mixed with oil paint). The variety of media within my work allows me the freedom to allows me the freedom to portray the depth of my subject, physically and emotionally.

I believe in art created with expression and passion. I am inspired by

the world around me. Although I often work with a variety of subjects, a commonality in all of my art is the significance to me. People, expressions, and the language of the body intrigue me. I am inspired by food itself and as a way of bringing people togethea way of bringing people together. In this way (and through my family), I am drawn to the restaurant industry and the hard work and heart it requires by all involved. I am moved by the the comfort, expressions, and individual personalities of the animals that cannot speak, yet are so dear to us. I respect the escape from hectic life provided by nature and landscapes. Finally, I am inspired by God for giving me eyes to see and the heart to create.for giving me eyes to see and the heart to create.

Claire received her B.A. in Fine Art from Presbyterian College in 2002, spending a semester in 2000 in London studying art. She is currently working on her MAED in Secondary Education. Experiencing the best of both worlds, Claire enjoys working, painting, and attending school as she divides her time between Marietta, Georgia and Park City, Utah.
