ENERASIA 2015 - The Global Energy Summit at GMDC Ground, Ahmedabad held on 3-4-5 December 2015 was successfully concluded after a three-day impressive show of products, technologies and intense deliberations about the energy sector.

ENERASIA 2015 housed 120 exhibition stalls and five seminars with participation of over 1000 energy experts and professionals and more than 10,000 footfall. This time the event witnessed concentrated target visitors associated with the energy fraternity.

Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon'ble Minister- Energy & Petrochemicals, Government of Gujarat inaugurated the Summit on 3rd December 2015 in morning hours. Shri I. M. Bhavsar, Chairman Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Many leading Indian and multinational energy companies participated in ENERASIA 2015 offering wide perspective about developments, technologies and innovative projects in the energy sector to the visitors. The companies included GMB, GEDA, Gujarat Tourism, CLP India, Apar Industries Limited, Inox Wind Limited, GERMI and many more.

This time, ENERASIA 2015 was concurrently organized with I for Afrika, the special event dedicated to African countries for exploring business alliances between the Indian companies and the African counterparts. For the first time, the Global Summit in Gujarat witnessed participation of as many as 40 African countries.

Business Seminars at the Summit presented many renowned speakers from India and abroad. The inaugural session titled “Indo-African Energy Conclave” presented distinguished speakers from Africa and India. Topics of the technical seminars were discreetly chosen and focused on the renewable energy, future road map for solar power generation and energy financing. A special session on energy opportunities in Saudi Arabia was also among the major highlights of ENERASIA 2015. Energy professionals from India and abroad participated whole heartedly in these sessions and leveraged upon the opportunity to hold open, constructive discussions on key energy aspects. At a special function, ENERASIA awards were presented to the energy companies and associations that have shown exemplary performance and initiatives in the energy sector.

ENERASIA 2015 demonstrated its commitment towards building energy-rich society by presenting the event with increased participation of countries and enlightening technical sessions.

The aesthetically designed GEDA Pavilion was the cynosure of all eyes at ENERASIA 2015. The concept of the design centered on the roof-top solar in which the State of Gujarat has made impressive forays in the recent years. The Pavilion presented key information about vision, activities and projects of GEDA.

Shri D. J. Pandian, IAS (Retd.) and Ex-Chief Secretary, GoG, is seen at the GEDA exhibition stall along with the GEDA team.

The stall of Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) was designed to provide blue ambience, the colour that likens with the azure sea colour symbolising the maritime sector. The blue-lit stall stood out in the exhibition area with simple yet elegant panels standing tall with informative displays.

The lamp lighting ceremony at the start of the inaugural session was graced in the presence of African and Indian Dignitaries. Seen in the picture are Mr. Desire Koumba, Ambassador of Gabon & the Dean of Central Africa, H.E. Prof. Phillips Kutima, Deputy Governor, Kenya, Shri I.M. Bhavasar, Chairman, GEDA, Shri Yash Malik, Executive Director, ONGC and Shri Balwant Singh, Managing Director, IDAM Infrastructure Advisory Private Limited along with Mr. K. L. Daga, President, IACCI.

The seminars at ENERASIA 2015 had a focus on renewable energy sector. Two of the five seminars were on the renewable energy including the one dedicated to solar energy. Eminent speakers were invited from India and abroad to speak at the technical sessions, which witnessed participation of several leading dignitaries from the energy sector.

The seminars at ENERASIA 2015 had a focus on renewable energy sector. Two of the five seminars were on the renewable energy including the one dedicated to solar energy. Eminent speakers were invited from India and abroad to speak at the technical sessions, which witnessed participation of several leading dignitaries from the energy sector.

n Prior to joining GERC, he was working as Director(Technical) in Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC). He was looking after all technical and operational aspects of various projects financed by REC in the generation (including non-Renewable energy), transmission and distribution sectors as well as Rural Electrification projects under the erstwhile Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

n He has worked for about 11 years in NHPC (Installation and operation & maintenance of Hydrogenerators) and 15 years on different posts in Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.

n He was a member of India’s first 400 kV Thyristor Controlled Series Compensation (TCSC) project implementation team. He has also served as Advisor to Government of Nepal for operation & maintenance of Devighat Hydro Electric Project during the year 1985-86.

T. C. A. Ranganathan Ex.Chairman, EXIM Bank of India

n Mr. T. C. A. Ranganathan, after completing his graduation/post-graduation in Economics from St. Stephen's college / Delhi School of Economics, has been a career banker for over 38 years. He was the Chairman, Export Import Bank of India.

n As chair of Exim Bank, he started new country lending programmes to assist growth of Indian Project Exports to Emerging Market Economies.

n He had been a member of several GoI overseas initiatives such as Indo-South Africa CEO Forum, Indo-Africa business council, Indo-Myanmar Joint trade and investment forum etc. He was also on the board of the Emerging Markets Advisory Council of the International Institute of Finance (Washington, USA), other Indian Financial Institutions and on the Management/Executive councils of CII/FICCI/Assocham etc.

n Currently, he is associated with some U.N arms for overseas consultancy apart from working as an arbitrator through the panels of NSE/BSE/NCDEX/Indian Council of Arbitration.

n He has served as the Secretary to the Government in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and occupied various important positions in the Government of West Bengal and the Government of India.

n He has served on the Boards of Air India, Indian Airlines, Airports Authority of India, Helicopters Corporation of India, Indian Tourism Development Corporation and a host of other PSEs.

n As Secretary in the MNRE, he undertook path breaking initiatives that resulted in more than doubling the grid connected renewable power generation capacity in less than three years. He was also the Business Development Adviser to the CSIR, till recently.

n He is a Director on the boards of leading Public and Private Sector Companies.

Frank PolhausVice President Harsha abakus Solar

n Frank has studied electrical engineering at Aachen University of Technolgy (RWTH-Aachen, Germany) and at Imperial College London. He started his professional career in sales related positions in the wind turbine industry for many years.

n In his subsequent career moves, he has worked with the Dutch Philips group, first as a technical purchaser developing suppliers in Eastern Europe and later as the manager of a key-account in the semiconductor sales division. Frank has also held the position of Sales Director in a leading American wholesale distribution business and fortune 500 company.

n In 2004, Frank returned to the renewable energy business in International Sales and Business Development functions for German abakus solar AG group. As a member of the executive board of abakus solar, Frank was responsible for all wholesale related business activities in Germany and Spain to be followed later by the current successful business expansion of the abakus solar group into India, South Africa, Turkey and the MENA region.

n Frank was the driving force behind a five year old successful joint venture with the Indian industrialist Harsha Engineers based in Ahmedabad, and with the current strong growth path of the Indian Solar market relocated to India as a Vice President for Harsha abakus solar in 2013. With his vast experience and network, he contributes as a technical advisor and professional link between the investment community and all aspects of project development, business modelling and EPC services in India.

n Mainak is the CEO of GPS Renewables (Green Power Systems), a bioenergy technology firm, which he had co-founded right after completing his MBA from IIM Bangalore.

n According to the MIT Technology Review, Mainak is one of the top Indian innovators under the age of 35. Fortune Media has recently named him as “The Bioenergy person of the year, 2015”. He is also a Global Shaper, World  Economic Forum, as a part of which, he works towards making Bangalore a better place for its citizens.
