Design

The new designed suit and thermal inner lining are suitable for the use in the most

demanding environment by applying both state of the art fabrics and integrating all

• The constant wear survival suit is designed to extend survival time in case of cold‐water immersion and is therefore made of a material that is waterproof and providing good thermal insulation preventing a negative body‐heat balance resulting into vasoconstriction and possible thermal stress with negative effects on

b l d l fcognitive abilities and mental performance.


Design

• When protected with an insulated survival suit, only some parts of the body are immersed. The anterior part of the body with most of the head, hands and toe area is exposedThe anterior part of the body with most of the head, hands and toe area is exposed to air, while the posterior part is exposed to water. Heat is lost to the environment mainly by conduction and convection.

• The rate of heat loss depends on the heat conducting properties of air and water together with the temperature gradient between the body in its survival suit and the surrounding air or water.g

Design

• We have considered and adapted the design based on all of the effects mentioned by adapting a differential type of insulation using 3M™ Thinsulate™ Supreme Insulation Antimicrobial Odor Control with X‐STATIC® ‐ The Silver Fiber® and PhaseInsulation Antimicrobial Odor Control with X STATIC The Silver Fiber and Phase Change Technology.

Design

• Both Neck and Wrist seals are of a highly flexible and comfortable design easy to bleed air and designed with the effect of water leakage in mind.Test results show that a 500ml leak produces a 30% reduction in clothingTest results show that a 500ml leak produces a 30% reduction in clothing insulation. A 500ml leakage increases body cooling whereas a 200ml leakage does not.Wet limbs are far less critical than a wet torso which in effect supports our ppphilosophy to utilize optimal insulation in selected regions of the body.

• The Lifejacket design incorporates a specially designed Spray hood that can be used in conjunction with a Helmet for open boat crews.
