Company

Posco Assan TST Steel Industry Inc. was founded with the partnership of Kibar Holding, South Korean Pohang Iron and Steel Company (POSCO) and Daewoo International in 2011. The facility will be established in Asim Kibar Organized Industrial Zone in Kocaeli.

The initial investment cost of the facility is $350 million. The facility will start operations in the first quarter of 2013, with an initial annual production capacity of 100,000 tons and 400 employees. The production capacity will be incrementally increased to 600,000 tons per year. The facility is expected to contribute $100 million towards narrowing the current account deficit of Turkey, on the basis of current export prices.

This contribution will grow with the increase in our manufacturing capacity. Our company is planning to export 40% of its initial production to neighboring countries. The company's contribution to the Turkish economy with its exports is expected to reach $240 million.

Technical Facilities Major technical installations at Posco Assan TST’s plant includes: 1. 2 ZRM (Sendzmir Rolling Mill) * DMS Sendzimir Cold Rolling Reversing Mills with 20 rolls type ZR 21 BB 64'', intended to the cold rolling of stainless steel strips. 2. APF (Annealing, Pickling & Finishing) * Annealing, Pickling & Online SPM processes are located here. 3. BAL (Bright Annealing Line) * Bright Annealing process are located here. The annealing process is done under atmosphere controlled by hydrogen. 4. SPM (Skin Pass Mill) * Two work rolls supply the glossy surface. 5. CBL (Coil Build Up Line) * The leader strip is combined to coil by the welding process. 6. CGPL (Coil Grinding & Polishing Line) * Coil grinding & polishing process take place in this line. Grinding Belts supply the surface quality regarding to customer needs. 7. TLL (Tension Leveling Line) * Tension Leveling rolls take place in this line to supply flat surface. 8. STL (Side Triming & Sliting Line) * Side Trimining & Sliting process is done regarding to customer needs by the help of slitting knives.

Premium Quality

Posco Assan TST products strictly adhere to the industry’s major international standards – AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), and EN (Euro-Norm Standards).

Posco Assan TST’s stainless steel in both coils and sheets, has been produced in response to the market demands which lie on two major stainless steel grades: Austenitic and Ferritic.

Austenitic

In addition to Chromium, typically at 18% level, austenitic grades contain Nickel which increases corrosion resistance and makes it easy to fabricate. This type of stainless steel is non-magnetic and the most widely used category of stainless steel – especially in the industries where high corrosion resistance is required – such as tubes and pipes, gas & water tanks, and outdoor furniture. Posco Assan TST’s main products in this category include grade 304, 304L, 321 and 316 in 2B (Colled-Rolled Bright Finished) and BA (Bright Annealing) finishes.

Ferritic

Ferritic grades are magnetic, containing Chromium as a main element, typically at 10.5%-30% levels. This type of stainless steel features medium to excellent corrosion resistance, depending on alloying elements. It is not susceptible to stress corrosion cracking; thus, suitable for use in producing highly durable tools and equipment such as exhaust pipe, decorative panel, kitchenware and household appliances. Posco Assan TST’s main products in this category include grade 409L, 430, 439, 441 in 2B (Colled-Rolled Bright Finished) and BA (Bright Annealing) finishes.
