The following descriptions will give you an idea of what to expect when you encounter a road project. The amount of delay and congestion depends on

overall traffic volume, time of day, and the size and type of the project.

Reconstruction — The highway is being rebuilt. Some lanes may be shut down while others remain open to keep traffic flowing.

Resurfacing/Paving/Overlay — Adding pavement over existing road or structure. You will likely encounter lane closures and a lower speed limit.

Chip seal — A method of resurfacing that places gravel over the roadway to work into the pavement.

Bridge work — Bridges may be built alongside existing bridges with little in the way of traffic delays. Some bridge work may require lane closures or traffic detours.

Widening — Widening existing roads usually requires some lane closures, but typically only for portions of the project area.

Details for specific projects listed on this map are included on the inside of this brochure. Projects are listed by highway type and route number, then sorted by milepost. Information is subject to change.

This map lists only major projects on state highways. You may also encounter short-duration maintenance projects or work being done on city or county roads.

Know before you go...

Pay complete attention to your driving, especially in the transition zone before the work area. An inattentive driver is the most common cause of work zone crashes.Orange is your clue! Pay attention when you see orange signs, barrels, cones and barricades. Obey all speed signs, because speed may be reduced for your safety and the safety of workers. Double your following distance. Don’t tailgate. Get in the correct lane well in advance. Remember, work zone traffic lanes often are narrow, without shoulders or emergency lanes. When possible, move over to give workers more room between them and your vehicle. Be aware of temporary construction accesses on either side of the roadway. Watch for construction vehicles and don’t follow them as they travel into and out of the work areas. Expect delays — plan for them and leave early so you can drive safely through the work zone. 30.U.S. 101 Oregon Coast Highway — Columbia River Astoria-Megler Bridge painting, MP 2.8 to 3.3. Daytime lane closures with up to 20 minute delays, Mondays to Saturdays. No lane closures during holiday weekends or special, identified events. Completion: 9/2018.

31. U.S. 101 (BUS) Warrenton-Astoria Highway — Old Youngs Bay and Lewis and Clark River Bridges. Repairs and painting; new doors and windows at the historic buildings located at Old Youngs Bay Bridge, MP 6.9. Daytime lane closures Sunday through Thursday with delays less than 20 minutes, periodic nighttime closures. 32. U.S. 101 Oregon Coast Highway — Manzanita Avenue to Neahkahnie Creek. Highway relocated and realigned; enhanced turning lane movements into downtown Manzanita, MP 43 to 43.3. Nighttime, single lane closures, with delays of up to 20 minutes. Completion: 11/2017.

33. U.S. 101 Oregon Coast Highway — Rockaway Beach to Bay City Section Replacement Project. Addition of concrete ramps and sidewalks in Rockaway Beach (MP 50.6 to MP 51.1) and Bay City (MP 60.1 to MP 60.4). Single lane closures with delays of 20 minutes. Completion: 9/2017.

34. U.S. 101 Oregon Coast Highway — Traffic improvements in downtown Tillamook at OR 6 include extending the couplet north, widening travel lanes and building a new wide, higher slough bridge with bike lanes and sidewalks, MP 64.3 to 65.7. Oregon Highways43. OR 8 Tualatin Valley Highway — Widen OR 8 and OR 47

to add dedicated right-turn lanes and bike lanes at the intersection. Sidewalk improvements, OR 8 MP 17.8. Day and night lane closures and periodic short-term closures. Completion: Winter 2017.

44. OR 18/OR 219/OR 99W Salmon River Highway — Newberg – Dundee Bypass Phase 1. New road on new alignment, includes large drainage ponds, nine new bridges, retaining walls, landslide correction measures, traffic signals and sign structures, city water line, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement markings and landscaping. Most work is off the highways, but the local road (including OR 99W Pacific Highway West, MP 21.8 to 22.4 and MP 26.3 to 27.1; OR 219 Hillsboro – Silverton Highway, MP 20 to 22 and Springbrook Road in Newberg) will be impacted. A portion of Springbrook Road will be closed to through traffic. Construction will take place mostly during the daytime, but also during some nights. Flaggers will control two-way traffic. Delays less than 20 minutes. Completion: 12/2017.

45. OR 19 John Day Highway — Pavement crack seal project along two highway sections between Spray and Picture Gorge/U.S. 26, MP 102 to 108 and 119 to 122. Lane restrictions, flaggers, delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 7/2017.

46. OR 22 Willamina – Salem Highway — Center Street Bridge repairs in Salem. Nighttime traffic will be controlled with lane closures, Sunday through Thursday, between 7 p.m.

and 6 a.m. Up to 20 minute delays. Completion: 8/2017.47. OR 34 Corvallis-Lebanon Highway — Install median barrier,

intersection illumination and warning improvements. Various locations between Corvallis and Lebanon. Night work with single lane closures, minimal delays. Completion: Spring 2018.

53. OR 58 Willamette Highway — Paving and other improvements from Black Canyon to Middle Fork Willamette River, MP 27.3 to 33.2. Nighttime lane closures, delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: Fall 2017.

54. OR 58 Crescent Lake Highway — Repaving Crescent Lake Highway to The Dalles – California Highway, MP 70 to 86.4. Up to 20 minute delays. Completion: 11/2017.

55. Oregon 62 Expressway Crater Lake Highway — Build new expressway, MP 0.7 to 1.7 and 5.4 to 5.8. Minimal impacts to traffic. Completion: 12/2018.

56. Oregon 66 Greensprings Highway — Guardrail installation, MP 10. Delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 9/2017.

57. OR 82 Wallowa Lake Highway – ADA sidewalk upgrades, pavement resurfacing between Adams Avenue (U.S. 30) and Riddle Road, MP 0 to 1.5. Lane restrictions, flaggers, delay up to 20 minutes. Completion: 11/2017.

58. OR 86 Baker-Copperfield Highway – Guardrail upgrades between Flagstaff Hill and Richland, MP 4.9 to 31.3. Lane closures, flaggers, delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 11/2017.

59. Oregon 99 Rogue Valley Highway — Paving and restriping, utility work from Rapp Road to Ashland City Limits, MP 14.6 to 17.9. Up to 20 minutes delays at night. Completion: 2018.

60. OR 99W Pacific Highway West — Dundee. New curbs, sidewalks, driveways, underground utilities, pedestrian lighting, and landscaping for 10 blocks, 2nd Street to 11th Street. Nighttime single lane closures for a block or two , no left turns. Two lanes in each direction open during the day. Flaggers used as needed. Completion: 9/2017.

61. OR 99W Pacific Highway West — Removing culvert, constructing new bridge north of Rickreall in Polk County at Crowley Creek, MP 54.0 to MP 54.8. Single lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 11/2017.
