Personal Information:
KELSEY LYNN NELSONMAJOR: NURSINGI AM SELF-DISCIPLINED, HARD WORKING, AND MOTIVATED.
My three favorite assignments:
1. Service Learning Project 2. Letter to Next Class 3. The Dr. Chew Discussions
Service Learning Project
This assignment was beneficial to both me and the team I had the opportunity to volunteer and coach for. I enjoyed teaching the girls softball skills while also getting to become attached to them on a personal level. It felt great to contribute to the community via volunteering.
Letter to the Next Class
This assignment was enjoyable to me because I had the opportunity to give others advice about being successful in this course and in college based on my experiences. In my opinion, if every course was required to give this assignment it would be beneficial for he new students coming in on the first day! I believe that by next semesters students having this letter, it will help them figure out the best study habits and time management skills best for them!
Dr. Chew Discussion Videos
I am a nerd, but these were my favorite assignments throughout the course because I loved hearing information that would benefit me in college and in life. His videos helped me create my time managements and learning skills by allowing me to learn what I was doing wrong and then demonstrating the right way to obtain, for example, “deep processing.” I often found myself applying his advice to my study habits.

”My Top Three Favorite Journals:
1. How to get the most out of studying2. “Goal Setting”3. The Five senses journal
How to Get The Most From Studying
I found this journal interesting because at the beginning of this course I had poor study habits but slowly obtained awesome study skills! The journal and video helped me learn how to use “deep processing” rather than temporarily learning the material. I have and plan to continue to use the skills I learned from this journal throughout college and in my career.
Goal Setting
I loved this journal entry because for once and made me write my goals down! I have always heard that all successful people physically write their goals out so that they are more likely to achieve it, and I believe this is true! By creating short term goals, it made the long term goals seem more reachable.
The Five Senses Journal
This journal went hand and hand with the goal setting journal, but this was my absolute favorite!! I enjoyed how we had to pretend, for example, like we were graduating and list our five senses we would experience in that moment. It made the moment seem reachable and allowed me to become more motivated in reaching that goal.

”Favorite Module
My favorite module was “How People Learn” because it allowed me to figure out that everyone has their own way of learning and obtaining information. It was awesome to discover how we are all “wired differently” in terms of the way our brains accept and obtain information.
3 Lessons That Will Stay With Me:
1. METACOGNITION2. HOW TO STUDY3. GOAL SETTING********
Self Assessment scores:
Mastering Self Management and Personal Responsibility:Before: 443After: 458 This semester I made the decision to take three online classes and was leery of doing so because of my poor self management and responsibility. However, now I would come as far to say that it is my strongest characteristic! After several assignments and videos about time management, I was able to put the advice to practice and exceled at doing so. Because of my “new found strength” in self discipline, I have become a pro at personal responsibility. I had to accept my success and failure and not let others accept credit or blame.
Highlights From Letter to Next Class:
1. I DISCOVERED MY POOR SELF DISCIPLINE AND STUDY HABITS REQUIRED FOR COLLEGE LEVEL COURSES.
2. I DISCOVERED MY STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES AS A STUDENT.
3. I DISCOVERED MY PRIORITIES AND GOALS AS A STUDENT.

”What Life Would Be Like…
My life would be all that I hoped for it to be and more if and when I am able to accomplish my goals. I would own my own hospital in Mckinney or Frisco, Texas while practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the ER or Trauma Unit. I would live in Mckinney or Frisco, depending on my hospital location, with my husband, Cade and our two boys.
