This partner project focused on landscape analysis, landscape planning, and small site development. Our team goal was to protect but allow non-intrusive use of the landscape. In this 300 acre property, we addressed on and off-site sustainability,
protection of human safety and health, and the creation of a distinctive marketable image for a sense of identity.

Focusing on 3 acres for our small site development, my partner and I designed the Welcome Center of the resort. Fireside Resort has a rustic yet contemporary feel, combining warm toned stones and wood with metal accents. Agricultural fields neighbor and supply the Welcome Center’s restaurant, while being watered by the retention pond. All elements were designed with the intent to mesh seamlessly with the
surrounding landscape, encouraging its
exploration.

Diversity Plaza is at the center of the Texas A&M University campus. Because the space receives Texas A&M’s peak flow of 48,000 students, I designed the plaza to accomodate and incorporate its namesake. By improving path layout, emphasizing the
centerline of campus, and promoting interaction, diversity is achieved through psychological influence.

Plaza Design
Year IIIThe tri-paned, multi-colored glass feature serves as a focal point for the plaza as well as the campus’ central axis. As the day progresses, glass reflections migrate across the cobblestones and dance undiscriminating hues on all passersby. Thus illuminating the inherent diversity and unity
within the campus.
A. The center space offers a direct route for busy students and a space for any of the 48,000 to take advantage of the expression stage.
B. Visitors are presented with multiple path op-tions guided by tree-lined views.

AT College Station’s “downtown” is currently non-existent. During this week-long group project we developed a plan that would extend from the Northgate district, creating a downtown for the city. The project is designed to propel the present heartbeat of Northgate by allowing a more fluid movement of people and creating a
new social aura, encouraging active use of the site.
