Stormwater is managed separately, on respectively private property and public street.
The current way of managing stormwater relies on public areas. It is up to the individual if they want to contribute, and unfortunately not everyone consider the floods as a common problem.
Stormwater from the private properties and public street is managed together.
The new design strategy relies on shared responsibility. That as many as possible want to take part in the task of stormwater managing.

In the city of Groningen, in the northern Netherlands, remains from an old Sugar Factory are left in an area located approximately 1.2 km from the city center. Except for two buildings and a chimney the site is almost completely empty consisting of approximately 12 ha of paved post-industrial landscape. The municipality of Groningen is interested in facilitating new uses for the area and has been granted funds to build a new pedestrian and bicycling bridge to connect the area to the rest of the city. At the moment the municipality has other sites in the city that are ready for housing development, leaving the Sugar Factory Site in a limbo between its post-industrial state and its future purpose. The design proposal consists of few but deliberate and permanent interventions. The design concept is inspired by the unique landscape features of the Sugar Factory Site. While walking through the site, its story reveals itself through the remaining fundaments and fl oors of the demolished buildings. Where once were walls, willow and reeds break through the gravel, creating enclosures in the vast, rough landscape.

The design proposal consists of few but deliberate and permanent interventions. The main structuring element is formed by two axes connecting the site with the city and the wetlands. Together with the factory buildings and the bridge these axes defi ne a dedicated area, in which hubs of creativity (‘Het Suikerplein’) and recreation (‘Hoendiep-Park’) are created. The two axes manifest as “The Promenade” and the “Park Path” function as bicycle and pedestrian paths. The Promenade stretches along the Hoendiep canal providing a space for leisure with a view of the site and the water. The Park Path connects the dedicated area with the wetlands.
The site is connected to the surrounding areas with two bridges for bicycles and pedestrians, one being the already planned bridge and the other one being the new connection provided under the viaduct in the eastern part of the site. To the south and west, new bicycle paths are provided for further connectivity for green commuting. Cars can access the area from the road under the viaduct to the east.

Het Suikerplein The main attraction is Het Suikerplein, a square providing space for various cultural activities. It consists of diff erent typologies that contrast the surrounding landscape, thereby framing the factory buildings and uplifting them to industrial monuments. The main building is opened up at ground level, replacing the walls with an open glass facade on two sides. The glass allows for visual contact with the inner architectural construction - an immense pillar hall. The pattern of the pillars is repeated outside, shaping also the spatial ex-perience of the square. Pillars are used as light poles and markings in the pavement, creating a grid throughout the square. The deliberate design interventions emphasize the rough aesthetics of the post-industrial landscape.

Hoendiep-Park is connecting the site with the wetlands, marking a transition from the paved post-industrial landscape to the untouched nature park. Hoendiep-Park slopes slightly down-wards allowing the water to shape the park. Hereby the vegetation changes gradually from the water edge up towards the maintained lawn.Paths of concrete and fl owering trees are repeated design elements from Het Suikerplein, making Hoendiep-Park a link between the cultivated landscape and the wetlands. This green space is designed for recreation and with its placement on the sunny side of the canal, it is perfect for picnics, sunbathing and sports.

Revealing the hidden spatial qualities at DTU campus

Summary: In the current and future expansion of DTU campus, some architectonical elements are thought as important to preserve while others are overlooked. This paper investigates the spatial phenomenon thresholds, whose qualities gives a new point of view to the development happening at DTU right now.
DTU campus - fascination of thresholdsWhen visiting DTU (Denmark’s Technical University) it was with some prejudices about its architecture and spatial environment. Knowing that the campus were build in the 1970s, without really knowing much of the 1970s way of planning, I had an assumption that DTU campus would be boring monotonous architecture. A place with few qualities and preservation values. Instead, I were fascinated by the contrasting experiences when moving from large open spaces to smaller enclosed gardens (fig. 2).
as: “...a transitional interval beyond which some new action or different state of affairs is likely to begin or occur” (Thesaurus Dictionary, 2005). With this fascination and definition of thresholds we analysed the spatial concept, using this research question as a starting point: What is the significance of thresholds at DTU?
A horizontal landscape - the challenge of organising The campus in Lyngby is planed and constructed in the period 1960-78, officially inaugurated in 1974 (Lokalplan 228, 2011). Post WWII ideal were a society based on the welfare system. Building a welfare city meant providing the greatest happiness
for most people. So providing spatial equity with standardised buildings became the goal to reach (Riesto, 2014). Simultaneously the abolition of vertical hierarchy was achieved by a number of architects, considering it as a dangerous reminder of totalitarian powers. The horizontal architecture was spreading (Lægring, 2014).
DTU appears today as a vast archipelago made of flat buildings. In this huge area, 106 hectares (DTU, 2014), there are no meaningful landmarks standing out, no architectural reference organizing the whole by dominating the others. But a system were thought of. The coordinate system. Dividing campus into four quadrants. The x-axis along Anker Engelunds Vej and y-axis creating a long parking avenue (fig. 3). Each building has a number according to its location in the coordinate system (Ahnfeldt-Mollerup, 2004). The system is only visible from a top view. In the spatial environment the coordinate system it is not that obvious. How did the architects then organize the relationship between the many spatial elements? In order to organize space on a human scale this article claims that the architects gave a particular attention to the in-betweens of the spatial elements.
Today DTU needs to expand and wants to profile itself as a worldwide university with architecture on a high

level. The coordinate system and the four quadrants are going to be preserved (Lokalplan 228, 2011). But is this top-view system actually the important one to protect? Thresholds are worthy to investigate in order to know more about their actual importance , qualities and possible preservation values.
Theories and methods Different theories concerning the space in-between, have been made as a reaction to the post-war, large scaled, modernist architecture. DTU is built at a time where these thoughts were taken into consideration.
From the 1950s Aldo van Eyck, a Dutch architect, member of the CIAM (International Congress of Modern Architecture) and then Team 10, raised
“In a very simple and aesthetic way, the opening indicated a threshold to a new space and emphasized the experience of going from one space to another ”

Especially one continuous element intrigued us (Note: “Us” is group 8 - Lærke Sophie Keil, Antoine Magnon and I). This element were an opening in a yellow brick stone wall (fig. 1 and fig. 16). The effect this opening had impressed us. In a very simple and aesthetic way, the opening indicated a threshold to a new space and emphasized the experience of going from one space to another. The term threshold can be understood both temporal and spatial

an awareness about the importance of thresholds as a place where contrasted values join. For “things to meet and unite” (van Eyck, 1962).
Gordon Cullen, english architect and illustrator, claims that the speed of change in post-war constructions prevents the environment from containing a human scale. In 1961 he wrote the book “Townscape” (Later editions “The Concise Townscape”) with “the old town” as a role model. Cullen describes the art of manipulating elements of the town so that an impacts on humans emotion is achieved. With keywords as motion, position and content, Cullen suggest some aesthetical principles which are helpful in order to know how people perceive space (Cullen, 1971).
Van Eyck and Cullen both considers the relationship between spaces important. Their theories form the background for this article’s conceptual idea of spatial perception, descreibed in following section. After describing the conceptual idea, an analysis of DTUs thresholds, based on observation and experiences, are made. The analysis results in a catalogue (appendix p.5-6) dividing thresholds into different typologies. The evolving of the different thresholds are described and discussed, which leads to a new point of view regarding the role of spatial heritage in the current and future changes at DTU.
Edward Soja, an American geographer and urban planner, has evolved a spatial model. The spatial model include: “The measurable space” - things and phenomenons. “The conceived space” - ideas and imagination people have about a space. “The lived space” - when human interactions influence space. A space consist of all three understandings of space (Soja, 1989,1999). These understandings are taken into consideration when analysing thresholds at DTU. But first some conceptual ideas about spatial perception and the role of thresholds.
Conceptual idea - spatial perception Motion and position is essential for the spatial perception. Model on fig. 4 is illustrating this. Each box represents a space with its inside and outside. The string symbolizes the act of passing, a person moving. Pulling the string suddenly closes/opens one of the boxes and redefines the overall situation of in and out. Thresholds are important in the term of position. They create a “here” and a “there”. Thresholds help you navigate and now “where am I? - in, out, in the middle?” The human being needs to be constantly aware of his position in the environment, and this is coupled with an awareness of elsewhere (Cullen, 1971).
The art of spatial relationships happens in the combination of several constructions. DTU campus is structured as a combination of
Fig. 4. The concept model embodies the relationship between in and out. Each box represents a space with its inside and outside. The string symbolizes the movement of a person. Pulling the string suddenly closes a box and redefines the in and out. (Model: Magnon. Photo: Bonde, 2014)
contrasting spaces, for example open/enclosed space (fig. 2). According to Cullen do the human mind react to contrasts, he writes: “... when two pictures (the street and the courtyard) are in the mind at the same time, a vivid contrast is felt and the town becomes visible in a deeper sense. It comes alive through the drama of juxtaposition” (Cullen, 1971: 9).
As well as Cullen, do van Eyck think that humans need to identify with their environment. Van Eyck explaining that “the relation of interior space and exterior space, between individual and common space, inside and outside, between the open and the closed could be the built mirror of human nature so that man can identify with it“ (van Eyck, 1956). Thresholds enable the space to “breathe in and out”. Van Eyck called it the “twin-phenomena” when creating a dynamic of complementarities between polarities (Strauven, 2007).
The significance of thresholdsIn the following part, five different thresholds from DTU campus are analysed.
Glass facades As fig. 5 shows a courtyard is placed inside a building surrounded by walls of glass. On one hand the wall marks a physical limit between the hall and the courtyard while on the other hand, the transparent material merges the two spaces together in a continuous space. The examples illustrates the notion of threshold as a boundary (the wall) and a continuity (the glass).
EntrancesWith more than 100 buildings (DTU, 2014), DTU offers many doorsills to cross. The architectural monotony could however have made their locations difficult. But for many buildings entrances is actually easy to find. As fig. 6 shows, the doorsill stretches out into a veritable porch

composed of sheltered stairs and a ramp. In addition with the given building number, the entrance becomes an obvious point of reference one can head towards, as well as a place to take a break. This porch facilitates the transition between in and out and also establishes a time in between.
Glass corridorsGlass corridors are frequently used as connecting devices at DTU. Fig. 8 shows one of them, connecting two buildings. The passing from one building to another is not instantaneous and meanwhile, one is also walking on the dividing line of two outdoor spaces. On one side the open oak belt and the other side an enclosed garden (fig.7). The corridor is therefore performing several transitions.
OpeningsWalls are very present in the vocabulary of DTU as a retaining and also architectural element shaping the overall space. Fig. 1, fig. 2 and fig. 16 present a wall erected between two buildings. A small opening in the wall operates the shift from one space to the other. Going through only takes half a second but it is very meaningful concerning where we are. This high wall just magnifies the threshold, elaborates an aesthetical transition between the two spaces. Another example is a stair cutting through a retaining wall (fig. 9). The narrowness of the stairs emphasizes the experience of going from one level to another.
PlacesFrom the sky, a regular green strip of oak belts (25-30m width) isolates the campus from its surroundings. The oak belt (fig.17) operates the spatial transition between the outside of the campus and the inside of the campus and acts as a buffer between DTU and its surroundings. This statement is only valid at a large scale in our understanding of DTU as the place
beyond the forest. Because this in-between is large enough to become, at a smaller scale, a space in itself with its own characteristics and uses. For instance, the running track enables sport activities. Suddenly DTU is not the inside anymore but another outside.
The evolution of thresholdsAn evolving of thresholds has happened during the development of campus. (See catalogue, p. 6)
Blurry spatial distinctionNew buildings at DTU are easy to distinguish from the original dense, yellow brick, black-framed buildings. The glass facade building seen on fig.10 (inside) and fig. 12 (outside) is a clear example. On this new building, glass is used from the bottom to the top of the facade, divided by white frames. This transparent element, originally characteristic for the glass corridors and the inner courtyards (fig. 8 and fig. 5 and fig. 13), is now characteristic for the whole building. Only a thin transparent width of glass divides the indoor and outdoor spaces. The distinction between inside and outside becomes blurry. This blurry distinction is emphasized when trees, a typical element from the outdoor, have been imported indoor. This layout of elements influences the perception of the space as homogenous and fluid.
The original buildings with inner or related courtyards, follows the vision of the 1960s garden genre. The idea of the garden, being an outer room as much a part of the building as any of the other rooms (Hauxner, 2003). The design intention of the new building
could be interpret as a continuation of the thought from the 1960s. To create an outdoor space as a continuing of the indoor space. According to the local plan (Lokalplan 228, 2011) this fluid distinction between inside and outside, is going to be a continuing element in future planning. The outdoor environment will indeed become smaller when more buildings are constructed. Therefore are outdoor spaces going to interact with indoor spaces, in order to reduce the feeling of lost outdoor space.
Unnoticeable entrances A renovation of the porch entrances is right now happening as seen on fig. 14. The entrance become less obvious and do no longer establish a time in between indoor and outdoor space. Van Eyck would have been disappointed to see this evolving of an entrance, since he believed that a door should be a domain, a place, not receiving people coming and going abruptly but by leading the trail gradually. He thinks that doors, thresholds, should be noticeable in order to make human conscious of entry and departure. Van Eyck said about unnoticeable doors: “Everytime we pass through a door like that, we have split in two” (van Eyck, 1962:28).
“The campus is a whole, and thresholds are linking and joining the whole into a significant pattern of contrasting spaces”
Thresholds - essential elementsThe examples show that thresholds are a combination of physical materials and mental perceptions. Thresholds offer an alternative to classical barriers, creating limits that are also transitions. They influence our perceptions of spaces and bring aesthetical values to the site. Finally, they mediate different spaces, exist at different scales and differ in size. Referring to Edward Soja s work, thresholds belong to the measurable and lived space as well as the conceived space (Soja, 1989,1999). On the basis of these five examples a catalogue is developed (see appendix p. 5-6). Even though the notion of thresholds remains highly complex, five typologies that support different functions and qualities are elaborated. Underneath each picture are bars trying to illustrate the mixture of typologies the different thresholds contain. It should be underlined that these assessments are subjective and based on personal experience.
Thresholds are important elements in the spatial morphology of DTU. The campus is a whole, and thresholds are linking and joining the whole into a significant pattern of contrasting spaces. A pattern of indoor and outdoor spaces, high and low terrain levels and open and enclosed spaces.

Preservation and innovationIn the recent constructions at DTU, glass corridors are no longer on the ground but has been elevated (fig. 11) or spans between two floors (fig. 15). The choice of reusing an original element indicates the success of a spatial system of thresholds, in which every space is dependent and interrelated.
The evolving of glass corridors is a good example on how architectonical heritage can be transformed and fit into a new context.
Less emphasized experienceTogether with the new glass building a new open stair are leading you from one level to another (fig. 12). Compared with the original stairs cutting through the retaining wall (fig. 9), the experience of going from one level to another is reduced. The new stairs have almost become a part of the lower or higher plateau and do not work as the space in between. The moving experience becomes less exciting.
Not only a thresholdOriginally the thought behind the oak belt were to have a vegetative border surrounding campus, which highlighted the entrance, the threshold to campus. The growth of the trees and a later established running track have developed the oak belt to, besides being a border and threshold, also become a place in itself
During a evolution some of the qualities of thresholds are kept, others are not. Entrances have become less significant which indicates that the need of having them as spatial references is changing. Other qualities are reused, as for example the use of transparent materials. The oak belt has even become more distinctive as a threshold during the years. The use of emphasizing thresholds are reduced, which minimize the spatial experience.
Current and future planning -a new point of viewPost-war architecture has preservation value. DTU campus is an example on how architecture from this time period are not boring and monotonous but has a lot of hidden qualities. Qualities worthy of preservation. Exciting environments do not only exist in old towns with buildings representing different time periods and having odd street angles. Simple, horizontal and rectangular architecture do actually offer spatial experiences on a human scale. This is important because 80 percentage of the built environment in Denmark were achieved between 1945 and 1989. The need of identifying what is worth saving or redevelop is very relevant (Tietjen, 2014).
The architects (Eva and Nils Koppel), and landscape architects (Edith and Ole Nørgaard) intension with the original campus plan, where to create a flexible frame, adaptable for future changes (Ahnfeldt-Mollerup, 2004). This forward-thinking is now made of use when DTU needs to expand. To spare the outdoor areas, the idea is to build high-rises. In this way do campus move away from the original thought of a horizontal
landscape. Vertical landmarks will make it easier for people to orientate them self. With the use of new form and materials, DTU campus will attain a new identify with buildings that differs from each other and from the existing buildings (Lokalplan 228, 2011). The thought of architecture reflecting social equity will gradually disappear. Today a more liberal welfare city is becoming the norm and this tendency of individualism already is and will be further reflected in the new architecture (Albertsen & Diken, 2004).
The idea of creating buildings with different identities do in some way fit to the concept of content which Cullen descries in the art of townscape (Cullen, 1971). Focusing only on buildings and not on the spatial environment, you could argue that a more diverse environment will be present. But the new buildings are not focussing on shaping a townscape, as in combination with other buildings, creating spaces and streets. The buildings are thought as central focal points (see fig. 12). With these unique central placed buildings, the importance of thresholds as navigation points maybe becomes less necessary, but it is important to have in mind that
Fig. 12. Background: New white glass facade building and stairs. Foreground: Open homogeneous space. (Photo: Bonde, 12.03.2014)
vertical landmarks do not necessary contribute with the same spatial qualities as thresholds do.
The analysed qualities of thresholds challenge the current planning at DTU. In the municipality atlas 2000 the four quadrants and the axes are, because of the clear and simple principle (each quadrant representing each sector of DTU) described as being of special architectonical value. Today there are a lot more than four engineering directions. DTU wants to keep this structure even though the thought behind the four quadrants is outdated. The plan is to keep the architectural character of the four quadrants and that each quadrant should have its own strengthened identity (Lokalplan 228, 2011). In my opinion the system of thresholds is just as important to preserve as the coordinate system. From a top view the axis of the coordinate system is clear and strong, but unnoticeable in the lived space. In the spatial lived space do the system of threshold exist. These unnoticed spatial qualities of thresholds should be considered in the current and future development at DTU.

LIMIT - Thresholds can create a physical limit but at the same time generate a visible transition.
Glass facades used in atrium courtyards (fig.5 and fig.13) and as buildings facades (fig. 12).
The idea of the atrium courtyard, being an outer room as much a part of the building as any of the other rooms has evolved. Today the transparent element is used as the whole facade of a new building. Courtyards and outdoors merge into a homog-enous and fluid space, with no clear distinction between inside and outside.
PASS THROUGH - To pass through is the most obvious threshold character.
All thresholds contain this typology. Simple entrances to buildings are choosen as a representative element, as they very obvious generates the possibility to pass through.
The entrances by the original buildings are marked with a porch (fig.6). Renovation are happening and some of the porches are replaed by simple cobbled stones ramps (fig. 14). The transition between indoor and outdoor becomes more abruptly. A loss of the “in-between” space has happened.
MEDIATE - Thresholds performing several transition.
Glass corridors, connecting diffierent buildings and mediat-ing between indoor and outdoor space.
Glass corridors do also occur in the new constructions. In that way the old DTU is visually linked with the new DTU. The concept of the glass corridors are rethought and made as either two-level corridors or floating corridors.
EMPHASIZES - Thresholds elaborates a transition between two spaces and emphasizes the experience.
Openings. Openings occurs both in retaining walls (fig.9) and walls shaping the overall space (fig. 16).
The emphasized effect is lost in the new constructions. Here the spatial structure are more open and fluid (12).
STAY - this typology fits for thresholds that not only works as a transition between two places, it is also a place in itself.
The oak belt is the most obvious example, but other thresholds as for example the glass corridors and the porch entrance do also contain the function for people to stay.
Originally the thought behind the oak belt were to have a veg-etative border surrounding campus. Later on a running track were established and today initiative are done in order to in-crease biodiversity. The oak belt as a place in itself is strength-ened.

AREA USEt he use of the surroundings is important when planning theentries to the park. t he area northwest of the park is used forresidential, while the southern area is less populated becauseit is mainly used for business, industry and recreational purpose.
c lose to the park is the big shopping center "Fisketorvet" situated. it attracts many people to the park, not only from thelocal area but also people living further away.
another rather important factor is the stations close to the new park. Dybbølsbro is situated just next to the park and a new metro station is under construction.

DEMOGRAPHICSmost of the people living within a walking distance to the park live on vesterbro. in average there live 1,9 person per household. With our knowlegde a lot of families with small children live at vesterbro.t here is also Fisketorvet where a lot of young people are hanging out. t he planned office buildings will bring buisness people to the area.
t he potential usergroup of the park is broad, so in the park there should be activities for both small children and their parents, young people and buisness people taking a break.

t raffic noise are heavy from the road, therefore it would be a good idea to make shelters along it. Shelters could be created out of vegetation and by modelling the terrain for example by making berms.
vegetation can very effectively clean the polluted soil. t his could for example be poplar, willow and pennycress.
another solution to the soil pollution is to fill the area with clean soil. t his will also fulfill the need for easy access from the bridge.
t he cross section gives an example onhow to fill the area with clean soil in a way where it reaches the bridge and create spaces for differents activities.

The Terraced Park
The project area is an old railway area near the waterfront at Kalvebod Brygge in Copenhagen.
The municipality of Copenhagen want to create an elevated green park belt with various green spaces.
The park should:- Improve the connection between the inner city and the waterfront- Handle the rainwater on site- Handle two spot ventilations from the metro- Have min 70% green areas without hard surfaces- Contain 128.000m3 (113.00 m3) of clean soil
The Terraced Park is:- An elevated terraced park- A taste of wild nature in an urban area- A refuge from the wind and traffic noise - A park were function follows the terrain - A spacious link between all types of users
There is traffic noise from Ingerslevsgade, Kalvebod Brygge, Dybbølsbro, the railways and the future Carsten Nieburhs gade. But the proposed buildings will minimise the noice coming from the bridge.

Surface Elevation Plan (fill: 116.000 m3)Each terrace has a specific elevation, which depends on the existing conditions, the function and the terrace next to it. For example should the terraces meet the metroventilation and the terrace by the bridge should have the level of 8. A sloping terrace is made for the playing area with cableline and climing walls, the terrave with the viewpoint should have a high elevation, the flooding terrace a low, and some of the terraces should meet the mainpath, in that way there are directly acces from the path to the terraces (this is shown on the Surface Elevation Plan on last page). The terraces do also have a gentle slope that leads the water down to the swale, which is underneath the mainpath. There is a high difference between each terrace on 0,5m, 1m, 1,5m or 2m, because it should be possible to go from one terrace to another with small ramps or stairs.
We didn't reach the fill of 128.000 m3 soil, but some of the terraces could be raised eventhough their is an important relation between all the terraces, some of them are possible to adjust in the hight. I will explain this more thoroughly on the last page, where we lowered some of the terraces to reach the fill of 113.000 m3 soil.

The sections shows the meeting between the terraces and the mainpath. Gabionwalls are used to connect the different levels. Sometimes the terraces are higher than the path and the path "cuts" its way through the terraces (Aa). Other places the terraces are lower than the path, and the path works as a bridge (Ee and Gg). When the terraces are 2m (or more) than the path a railing is needed (Bb). Some places the terraces almost have the same level as the mainpath (Cc, Dd and Ff), here there are directly acces from the path to the terraces. Sometimes it is different at each side of the path (Bb and Dd). Underneath the path (section A-E) is the swale. The swale changes in hight depending on the elevation on the terraces and the mainpath. The water can run through the gabionwalls and maybe a drainage also is needed.

Calculation (ex. 1/139 rainevent and 5 min rain duration)5 min * 503 l/s/ha (from regnrækken table) * 60 s/min = 150900 l/ha150900 l/ha / 10000000 = 0,01509 m3/m2 * 1,3 (climate factor) =0,019617 m3/m2
9250 m2 * 0,019617 m3/m2 = 181 m3
The swales max volumen is 970 m3 and the bluemarkt numbers shows which rain events and duration it can handle. The north flooding terrace can keep 1200 m3 water and the south flooding terrace can keep 500 m3, so the Terraced Park can easily handle the areas stormwater.
The gabion walls
The wall that follows Carsten Niebuhrs gade follows the elevation of the terraces (+ 1m for safety). To the right is a section of the wall (where it is highest), to show the princip for the building structure. The bevel of 15% will make the wall look less overwhelming for the passings.
The terraces are designed to slope towards the swale so the water can slope down and into the swale. In case of a big rain event there are two terraces that can be flooded and keep the water. The northen "flooding terrace" is natural connected to the swale, but the southern "flooding terrace" will need a drainage pipe to lead the water. The water terraces will increase the nature feeling in the urban park and give the visitors an extraordinary experience.
To retain the big amount of soil and the different levels of the terraces, path and swale we use gabions. Gabions can contribute the park with nice green planted walls as you can see on the reference photos to the right.

The terraces on the southeast side, slopes down to the existing ground with a constant gradient. The slopes gradient is different for each terrace because of their different elevations, but the princip is the same for all. We choose to make the gabionwalls follow the slope to emphasize the terraced concept.
There are two principle for the sloping. One where the slope goes straight down (both modelview and the drawing above) and one were the slope has an angle(drawing below). If the slope go downwards with an angle, the gap between each gabion gets smaller.

FRI UDFOLDELSE!
CENTRAL BELIGGENHED

Hedehusene by eksisterer ikke i mange folks bevidsthed.

Sted: fælleskrematoriet i ringsted

beplantningsudvikling for skovmassiverne

MIDDELALDER OLDTIDEN OPLYSNINGSTID ROMANTIKKEN
Gravpladsen

GRAVPLADSER I DAG
Vores koncept vil bryde denne indrammende struktur.
