When I was a kid, my sister led me tobelieve that I came from Mars and my

parents found me in the middle of bananatree field.

Thus, I grew up feeling a bit isolated, spending most of my time being curious on

how human works

until I discovered the greatest discovery of mankind..

Page 4: Portfolio - Kautsar Anggakara

I started to connect better with peopleand from then on, my curiosity led to observation..

and the observation led to connection..

Page 5: Portfolio - Kautsar Anggakara

it is my lifelong passion to observe the way people interact with their surroundings, and the gap between what we think they do

and what they really do

..and try to make sense out of Jakartan’s passion for food

70% of Jakartans live to eat, not eat to live. That’s why we’re interested to look at the relationship between Jakartans and their food, as it can be a good indicator of where society is going and where consumers are heading. We used Danish-based methodology, SignBank® to collect “signs”; hindsights from the past and insights from the present to see the trails of what is likely to happen in the society.

Some extra-kilos later, we manage to collect hundreds of signs and cluster them into predictions about the future in the category of taste preference, social interaction, environmental responsibility, and lifestyle. We launched the result of this study at 2011 TEDx Jakarta.

I’ve utilized creative tools to help incontinence people adapt with their new life

As part of a kick-ass course that combines design thinking and neurobiology of creativity, I was involved in a project with Coloplast to provide innovative solutions that can improve user’s quality of life. Through a unique creative process (see video), the group discovered that the core issue for people with incontinence problem lies on their effort to deal with emotional pain.

500 post-its, 47 coffees, and 5 brainstorming sessions later, we came up with a solution to reframe the relationship between Coloplast and their users. Simply put: from user to lover (see user journey video). To envision the ecosystem of this framing, I prototyped some possible touch points e.g. an app and a welcome pack for discharged patients.a project for CBS Applied Creativity and Design Thinking class with Sven Timo Borg, Christina Valdorf, Annabell Gast, Malene Rolsted and Jessica Ibsen

..and create a concept for people to embrace more of life through their guilty pleasures

“Success does not come for free” was the obvious insight that we gathered upon interviewing the busy business people, as part of our project in Interaction Design class. They longed to sleep as long as they want, eat all the guilty pleasures, or simply do stuff without having to consider other’s opinion. We tried to create the model of their unresolved tension through the concept of “Slacking Day”, which is a day where people co-create together to embrace their guilty pleasures.

The concept’s service blueprint includes platform where user can participate on creating the movement and encourage others to have breaks from routine. The online platform includes location-based app and website that provides curated guide on slacking. a project for ITU - Interaction Design class with Torbjørn Aksdal and Matilde Graulund Dublin

I’ve explored teen angst and consumerism through short movies

my role:director, producer, editor

keywords:filmsstorytelling

The idea of learning new skills sparked in the summer of 2004. Me and a couple of friends were thinking on making movies, because none of us have any experience on it and we thought that it can be a cool summer project. Cut to one year later, our movie was screened as the opening movie for Jakarta LGBT film festival. I see movie as a perfect medium to convey my point of view in life and to share my findings on various observations I see in daily life.

My summer projects up to now include some short films, video art, and a failed attempt on acrobatic yoga.

..and provide service for spontaneous travellers to explore cities in a different way

I participated in 2012 Copenhagen Service Jam and teamed up with four cool design enthusiasts to create a service along the theme “hidden secrets”. During the course of a weekend, we created Urban Play: an online platform that encourages offline exploration and local interaction.

The service is designed for travelers who’ve had enough with conventional city guides and longing to explore the city’s best kept secret and interact with local fellow. The app reinvents traditional tourist guides and transform the city into a playground, where exploration is driven by games.

Above all, I am passionate on sharing my knowledge to others

my role:creative facilitator

I am currently developing a skill-set in the area of Creative Facilitation, and I have facilitated several workshops with students and professionals in Indonesia. I was introduced to different strategic design and creative thinking tools through my minor in Design Strategy. My facilitation style usually involves a mix between individual and group work, focus on doing (prototyping) than talking, and sharing examples or case studies.

In 2013, I have facilitated two Design Thinking workshops with local creative agencies in Jakarta. I have also initiated and facilitated 2013 Jakarta Service Jam, which is a part of the Global Service Jam event.
