The design is derived from three art pieces related to nature. I looked at how each art piece is CONTAINED and mimicked it through the architecture. The level of containment changes as the user PROCEEDS through each display.

Islamic center set in a PRIME LOCATION in Buffalo, NY. Close in vacinity is Buffalo State College, Albright Knox Museum, Buffalos Historic Society, and Forest Lawn Park. The design of a Mosque requres SPECIFIC PROGRAMING for the prayer cycle, gender relationships, and the symbolic Imam.I defined the sacred areas by a FILTER and FRACTURED PATTERN. The sacred areas are secluded with a DOUPLE LAYER.

    Botanical GardensJunior 2012

Buffalo Botanical Gardens is a HISTORICAL site. The goal was to remodel the gardens while PRESEVING the iconic street front and smoke stack. I used the Buffalo maridian and connected them to local schools. The design was used to connect every memeber of the community in EDUCATING THE YOUTH OF BUFFALOS URBAN setting.

Smoke detectors are required for all occupancies. For R-2 residential, a detector is required 1) in each sleeping room/area, 2) on each floor immediately outside each sleeping area and 3) on each floor of unit.

Audiovisual fire alarms are required throughout the building every 75 within spaces and in escape routes.

Pull stations are required immediately outside entrances to egress stairs and within the stair at the final exit at grade level.

Because of the R-2 occupant group, sprinklers are required throughout the entire building. The maximum area of coverage per sprinkler is 225 sq. ft. Each room requires at least one sprinkler head. All areas are required to be covered including closets or storage areas more than 4 in length or width.
