Introduction This document presents statistics of the Graduates for the 2013 October Graduation. The data was collected from the faculty officers and forwarded to the MIIR Department for processing, verification, and analysis and report production. A total of 1292 awards were offered to 1126 graduates, and 661 were females. These graduates met the graduation requirements and were awarded with degrees, diplomas or certificates both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The 2013 October graduation report comprises six sections as follows;

1. Qualification type awarded 2. Awards by offering mode 3. Graduates by school and department 4. Qualifications name awarded 5. Graduates duration of period of study 6. Graduates nationality, age and gender

1. Qualification type awarded

This section presents the graduates per Qualification type awarded and Qualification type registered. A comparison between gender of the graduates is also made. Table 1.1 shows the number and the percentages of awards given to graduates by Qualification type awarded and gender. While a total of 1292 awards were issued, the highest Award Type were Bachelor Degrees (37.5%), followed Certificates and Diplomas with 28.5% and 27.7% respectively. A few Honours degrees 2.6%, and 1.6% for Masters degrees were awarded. Close to 60% of the awards were issued to the female graduates. Table 1.1: Awards by Qualification Type Awarded and Gender

2. Awards by Offering Type

This section presents the graduate awards by Offering type, Qualification types and sex. Figure 2.1: Awards per Offering Type and Gender

Figure 2.1 and table 2.1, above shows that 1292 awards, of which 54.2% were issued to fulltime students, 28.3% issued to part-time students and 17.5% issued to distance education students. While the highest qualification type for distance and part-time was the bachelor degree which account for 9% and 10.8 % respectively.

5. Duration of Period of Study (Time to Award) This section presents the average duration of study in years per qualification awarded, Offering Type and school divided in gender denominations (Table 6.1-6.3). The average time to complete each qualification is calculated by using the total number of years each student is registered at the Polytechnic of Namibia. The student may have been registered for and/or completed another award during this time, therefore this is just a Proxy Indictor.
