The members of the Atenistas are volunteers citizens

Anyone who loves his city and wants to make it look prettier and the daily life easier for everyone can take part in the team.

The actions as a team started in summer 2010 by a few people and increasingly it has become a ‘phenomenon’

People get to know about it in Social Network mainly, social media and the traditional media. It’s amazing that Atenistas profile in Facebook has got 41,000 friends at the moment and almost 6,000 followers on Twitter.

Every new action is organiazed by members of the team mainly in use of the web.

Mobile internet is not very common yet in Greece; maybe it’s too soon yet to use mobile internet in terms of co-organiazing such actions. It’s more common on sense of keeping in touch, sharing, and information.

Most of the memebers are between 20-35 years old.

However, there are younger and older volunteers who take part. 20-35s are more often online and are influenced by such initiatives.

Social Networks seem to change the youth profile.

Young people are getting handle of their lives and they collaborate for a BETTER WORLD.WEB 2.0 has created a powerful youth.

People seem to wait nothing from the politicians any more.

They take the first step and get what they deserve for an better life in cities. It seems that web 2.0 involves politics. Citizens are creating Open Politics.
