Natural Resources and Industrial Areas

Poland is a predominantly industrial country, mainly due to the enormous quantities of coal that contains the region of Silesia in the south, and used as main energy source. Besides coal, the subsoil of Poland offers iron, copper, lead, zinc, coal, sulfur, natural gas, oil and rock salt.  The major branches of Polish industry is metallurgy, steel, mechanical engineering, textiles, followed by chemical industries, food, paper, electrical goods, rubber products and cement.  Poland exports are coal, machinery, textiles and agricultural products.

Use of the Land

Important factor in the economy are agriculture and livestock. Half, about the Polish territory is arable, the main products of cereals, potatoes, sugar beet, flax, hops, tobacco, etc. Livestock includes sheep, pigs, cattle, horses, etc. Many developed is also fishing in the Baltic coast. Important economic factor is also the exploitation of forest wealth of the country.

Currency The currency of Poland is the zloty. Current bills

10.20.50.100 and 200 zlotys and currencies 1 .. 2 .. 5 zloty and 1 .. 2 .. 5 .. 10 .. 20 and 50 piastres. The international symbol of the Polish currency is the PLN.

The convertible currencies can be exchanged into Polish zloty at banks,exchange offices in hotels, and private service exchange (kantors). Rate 1 € = 4,4 PLN
