profanity(or any profanity) it will not be chosen for publication (words like"hell",

etc., will be acceptable if it is needed in the message; if you are not sure your

poem fits these guidelines then please ask)

Are you the one? by Kentrell Blanche

Our Love shines through

if i were wind

and you were the sea, which one of us would be more powerful, you or me?... we love without order we collect and collect like some spiraling hoarder; building emotions from skin to core with no reason to question, no need to keep score we love without law we surrender to no greater force our hearts take us over, on and off course; i am robin

and you are the air beneath my wings; you keep me hovered above all spiteful things i drink of your spirit to fill my soul and without conditions, you make whole you enrich every part of me and without warning, you have become the heart of me; beating life into this once hopeless seed ridding my garden of every compromising weed; you complete me and just as well, i know that you need me.. together, we are beautiful and our love shines through

my heart's biggest rival, you made your arrival causing me to second guess everything i have come to know best- his kisses, his hugs, his way of life; it all falls short when it comes to you and I.. an intruder of my usual, you came to me with

your weapons of destruction with intentions to tear down all that has been built; you bear no shame, you bear no guilt.. you see me as your victory; your personality is rather slick to me.. you whisper words in my ear that i never wished to hear; reminding me of how precious and worthy my soul is- i am intrigued but, can you kindly tell me what your goal is.. if i allow you to destroy my home, will you replace my misery with happiness? if i give my all, can you promise me that

i will not hate what happened with this? you are more than just some high profile stranger from the way; you are the very light that brings my day; you are the water in my cup i drink of you

and i could never have enough but, is this love? is this worth taking the chance? is this worth starting over new and putting myself at risk

by fully trusting in you? emotions for you come with ease, but can you insure me that you are willing and able to fulfill my needs?

I want my stuff back

By Kentrell Blanche

like a thief in the night, you slipped through the cracks

and claimed everything that belonged to me without even looking back.. so unidentifiable, so far out of sight;

what gave you the idea? what gave you the right? what gave you the right to open windows and unlock doors

and put your tainted hands all over property that was never yours? do you know how hard i worked for that? do you have any idea of how many years

it took for me to pay it all off? you robbed me of my happiness

without having a second thought.. and what the hell are you going to do with it?

how can it possibly benefit you? not all values can be replaced by simply purchasing something new..

and regardless of whether or not it looks just like it or feels just like it;

who is to say that it will have the power to heal just like it?

you took away something so precious without even bothering to find out

just how to use it; so of course,

your stupid ass will bend and abuse it.. you are going to change it

until it is nothing more than trash; you took away something

that i would have given freely if you had only taken the time to ask

Ghetto Driving

By J Asheley Brown

There she is

With her ugly face,

Heart already spiraling down into an ugly place;

Blasting hard on her horn behind me;

Who is she anyway?

Driving fast with nowhere to go,

Music pumping loud,

Smoke drifting out the window;

Overcast sky but she’s wearing shades;

Oh, God, help my people

With their ghetto ways

6

Page 7: Poet Speak Magazine

but, don't you dare give up on me don't you dare turn me loose my heart beats for you and i dance according to the rhythm of your voice i surrender without reason i give in without choice as long as you love me i have no need to dwell alone wrapped in your tenderness, i am home

loving me in return can be a challenge at times, i am rather difficult to

manage but, i am yours if you will have me.. like anyone else, i have my less than pleasing ways and along with my sunshine, i have those cloudy days; days when the rain just won't stop pouring and lightning just won't stop soaring

nothing comes without asking

and nothing touches without

lasting so, don't you welcome faces that you aren't prepared to feed and don't you ever have a second thought when you're thinking of me i come wholeheartedly, offering every part of me and though i have nothing to give other than myself, i will love you until my last breath

I am home

While enlightened souls engage

in heated religious debates,

security has been compromised,

the enemy is within the gates/

Minds of many are ripe

and harvest time is here,

Spiritual suicide is upon us

and yes, the end is near/

Fabricated reign of the "One who

Turned"

will cause many

to bow,

to fall,

to burn/

Turning your back on God

with a permanent mote in your

eyes,

Creating your own truth,

creating your own reality,

creating your own lies/

Ushering in the "Great Usurper"

unseen

and as of yet, unknown

Abominations once hidden are

now well sown/

Political maneuverings are now

in place

to allow the Son of Perdition to

show his face/

One world, one money, one faith,

they will cry

Deceived into obedience,

Eternally they will die/

Handful of the ones sealed by

grace,

will hear the Trump's call

and be swept up from this place/

But, woe unto all,

from the elder to the youth,

who will not open their hearts

and see this truth

the Rape of the Butterfly by j asheley brown

Sharpened pieces of glass

Just shattered as I screamed/

Everything paused in a moment

As if in a dream;

Yet I have never dreamed

Such horror as terrible as this,

Blow by blow, I felt the thunder

Of his fist/

Splitting of my skin,

Ruptured veins,

Blood running down

As he pounded me again and again/

Clothes worn and tattered,

Just like my soul,

He’s using me,

Abusing me,

So tired, so cold/

His penetration is ripping me,

His breathing so harsh,

Screams dying in my throat,

So scratchy and parched/

The last spinning of this caterpillar,

He invaded my cocoon/

Never to rise as a Butterfly/

Gone too soon

Existing

By Kentrell Blanche

he comes to me frequently

demanding to speak with me he always has too much to say he always has to have his way

he loves to have his way over me but, he is not in love with me i am nothing more than a thrill

he does not really care how i feel he keeps me bogged down in misery

i know he truly does not want to be with me but still, i give him control

over my mind and soul i am such a fool for him

and that is just cool with him he loves my vulnerable state

for him, my weakness is oh so great

he has no need for intelligence that is so irrelevant

he needs someone to trip and fall someone who gives his all

and expects nothing in return all the more for him to earn

i am a fool indeed and he has claimed every part of me

he drives me up the wall but, that is better

than not existing at all

Divine Invitation

By J Asheley Brown

Calm down, don't have a heart attack/Yeah I said your game is whack/

Walk away you nouveau pretender/don't be a borrower but a lender/

My rhymes have stepped outside of time/

So cosmic they can't register in your mind/

The Ancients encrypted my message so deep/

Scholars are baffled by my evolutionary leap/

But still I am humbled by the Man Up Above/

Who is Down Here in my Heart with His Revolutionary Love/

Changing my Stance, my Pose, my Vision now Erect/

Receiving Divine Invitation, I stand with the Elect

Guest in Hell By J Asheley Brown

I allowed you

To take me,

To use me,

To break me;

It pleased you

To hurt me,

Rape my mind and desert me/

I let you in,

So I’m the fool

Who didn’t guard my home well,

Blinded by your heart-spell

You led me into hell

And that’s where

I’ve been living ever since

Page 14: Poet Speak Magazine

When others have issues, They blow up my phone But when I’m going through I’m butt nakedly alone.

Wow, I almost fell in! And I’m not even talking about my

sin. I buckle and stumble Up under the weight,

Who is out there? Who can relate?

Disappointments bombard me, They come rushing in

But where is a comforting arm? Where is my friend?

I’m miles ahead of depression, But it’s catching up fast;

How long must this sabotage last?

Sabotaged

Sometimes I feel so all alone, No one here to call my own

No listening ear, no sounding board, No one to help me cross this ford.

I pick up despair And I toss it aside.

Can’t say it’s been fun, But it’s been a wild ride.
