Collections at Christmas Masses

As is customary, collections at Christmas Masses are our personal gift to the clergy. Please use one of the special Christmas Envelopes you will find at the back of the church.

“Rediscover Jesus” by Matthew Kelly.

A very generous benefactor from the USA has paid for 100,000 cop-ies of this book to be distributed amongst the Diocese of England and Wales. Following the success of a previous initiative in a number of other diocese and parishes, the books are intended to be offered at Christmas Masses when numbers greatly increase due to those who come only because it’s Christmas. By offering a free copy of “Rediscover Jesus”, it is hoped this book will provoke a deeper re-sponse to the Lord and potential commitment/recommitment to the fuller practice of their faith.

The books will be distributed after Christmas Masses.

SPUC Annual White Flower Appeal Sunday 14th January 2018.

WHITE FLOWER APPEAL - the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) will be holding its annual appeal in January. Collection for SPUC after all Masses on 14th January.

FORMING INTENTIONAL DISCIPLES

Information Evening 16th January at 7.15pm. If you have not yet had the opportunity to take part in this diocesan initiative or would like a refresher, you are invited to join a new group which will meet at the Cathedral for 7 Tuesdays at 7.15pm. This is for every member of the church community and is to fulfil Jesus’ great commission to “Go and make Disciples” Matthew 28:19. All Welcome.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION IN THE CATHEDRAL

Please seriously consider spending a half hour in the presence of the Lord each week. If you feel able to take on this commitment please sign your name in the time slot that suits you and hand it into the Sacristy or the Parish Office. Exposition will commence as soon as the Builders move out and all the scaffolding is removed. Starting date will be in the Bulletin later. At the back of church, there are more copies of the new times—there are still many slots to be filled in.

New Diocesan Trustees. The Trustees of the Diocese are responsible to the Charity Commission for the running of the Diocese as a registered Charity. Their invaluable work helps ensure that the mission of the church in the Diocese is carried out responsibly and smoothly. The Diocese is looking to recruit one or two new trustees with particular expertise in accountancy, corporate financial management or in Human Resources management (HR). Safeguarding Administrator (part time) 2 Posts, St Boniface House, Ashburton, Devon TQ13 7JL, Hours of Work: 17½ hours per week, Salary: £10.60 per hour pro rata’d to 2½ days a week (Actual Salary £9,646 per Annum). The Catholic Diocese of Plymouth is looking to appoint two part time Safeguarding Administrators who will work with the Safeguarding Co-ordinator and other Safeguarding staff delivering effective measures to ensure that young and vulnerable people within the Diocese are kept safe. Weekday Masses between Christmas and New Year will be at 10am (not 9am).
