WELCOME TO

“For even the Son of Man came not to be

served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

I have been told that the true test of being a servant is how one responds when he is treated as such.

In America, we as a nation are very concerned with what is fair. We spend time making sure we get our fair share and asserting our rights whenever necessary. From a very young age, we tend to expect some type of cosmic fairness in a world that continually disappoints. I know as a child I cried, “IT’S Not FAIR!” many times and as a parent, I have the privilege of seeing my daughters keep a continual mental checklist of fair and unfair moments.

It is interesting to read that Jesus' disciples struggled with the same concept. They wanted to be sure they received their fair share, the best for the best. However, once again, God’s economy doesn’t add up in our temporal world.

The reality is, nothing was fair for Jesus. He followed the path of the unfair, to die for the sins of others. I wonder how my voice sounds to him when I cry out, it is unfair. I wonder what He thinks when I complain about serving or being treated as a servant. I wonder if I can ever fully understand what my savior gave up to save me; what it truly cost to empty Himself of the glory and take on the form of a humble man. Without His sacrifice I would never be able to enter into my Father’s rest. The truth is, it’s not fair and I am so grateful it isn’t.
