WELCOME

Westminster Presbyterian Church is a covenant family of believers called by God to fulfill His purposes here in Laurel, and as a staging ground for worldwide kingdom growth where we seek to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ – to fill the earth with disciples, subdue it redemptively for God’s glory, and worship Him joyfully. We are being redeemed and equipped by the Spirit to build up one another until the Lord returns.

PROFESSION OF OUR CHURCH’S FAITH*

God was pleased, in His eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, to be the mediator between God and human beings. As the mediator, He is the prophet, priest, and king, the head and Savior of the church, the heir of all things, and the judge of the world. God gave to Him, from all eternity, a people to be His seed and to be by Him, in time, redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified. The Lord Jesus, by His perfect obedience and sacrifice of Himself, which He through the eternal Spirit once offered up to God- has fully satisfied the justice of His Father. He purchased not only reconciliation but also an everlasting inheritance in the kingdom of heaven for all those whom the Father has given to Him.

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN

O Father whose tender mercies are over all Your works, we humbly ask Your forgiveness for the sins of this past week: for every weak and defiling thought to which our minds have given harbor; for every harsh and critical word spoken in haste and passion; for every failure of self-control; for every stumbling block which by deed or example we have set in another’s way; for every opportunity lost to do good; and for every blessing thanklessly received. May Your Holy Spirit so rule our hearts that You give us victory through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. (Hear now our silent and individual prayers of confession)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. AMEN.

BENEDICTION AND HYMN OF REFLECTION

Glory to Our Great Redeemer

Glory to our great Redeemer, conqueror of death and hell. He was resurrected, raising me as well.

Glory, glory to His name. Glory to our perfect sacrifice, a Lamb whose blood covered my shame.

The wrath of God poured out and satisfied. Glory, glory to His name.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Special Collection Today

We will be receiving a special collection to assist our sister EPC churches in Texas who were  impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Over 100,000 homes were damaged by the  floods, while only 17% had flood insurance. This is a tragedy for so many, but  it is also a gospel opportunity for the church to reach their neighbors with the love of Christ. Please consider contributing, as you feel led by the spirit.

If you are writing a check, please put “Harvey Relief ” on the comment line.
