ocean front with sand, rainbow fish, boats, and seashells.

Science and Math: Making an ocean bottle and counting the ob-jects we add to it; creating a rain-bow in a jar using different shades of food coloring; making a graph and charting which items float and which things sink; ob-serving ice (tinted with food-coloring) as it freezes and melts; and watering the garden in the court yard.

There are so many books to read with a Water theme. Some reads on our July list are “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister, “Octopus’s Garden” by Ringo Starr, “Ellie” by Mike Wu, and “Lucy Loves Sherman” by Cathe-rine Bailey.

Our dolls, toy people, animals, and dinosaurs will enjoy a bubble bath. A car wash is also on our agenda as we make it our goal to clean all of the wheeled vehicles in the play yard.

The Triangles are excited about the month of July and our theme, “All About Water.” We know that water is vital for hygiene, clean-ing, drinking, vegetation growth, and providing a place for animals to live. By “learning through play,” the Triangles will discover the many uses of water…and have fun, too!

Our July lesson plan calls for water play outside every Fri-day! Please add swim wear, a tow-el, and appropriate shoes (no flip flops). We will play under the sprinkler, use the water hose and spray bottles to help us stay cool! Also, please remember to apply sunscreen before your child ar-rives at school. Teachers will re-apply before outdoor activities.

Activities will include:

Art: Creating art with wet chalk; outdoor easel painting; eye drop-per art with food coloring; bubble art; and painting outside with wa-ter. We will design a beach scene painting by creating a summer

We finally made it to July!!! The Puddle Jumpers Theme for this Month is "Under The Sea" We will be getting crafty turning our classroom into the ocean. We also will

spend some extra time in our sandbox in the play yard. We will spend time outside reading and talk-ing about the ocean and what lives underneath. The PJ's will turn into scuba divers themselves as we start our water play outside this month. This Month we also cele-brate the "Independence Day of the United States" also known as Ju-ly 4th.

We’ll drink plenty of water to quench our thirst and make popsi-cles to stay hydrated during out-side play. July promises to be busy with lots of wet fun while discovering the value of water and its many uses.

It wouldn’t be July without doing projects to honor our nation’s birthday. To celebrate Independ-ence Day, we’re designing fire-works using our handprints – and red, white, and blue “star people”!

A reminder that Friends Child Care Center will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th. We wish eve-ryone a safe and happy holiday!

Finally, a “Happy Birthday” shout-out to our Triangle friend, Ed-ward, who celebrates his birthday on July 15th!

Director’s News (continued) have Jillian Van Balen (grandmother to Sky-lar in Triangles) come in to teach spanish to our Puddle Jumpers, Triangles, Quads and Campers on Wednes-day mornings. She reads familiar stories in both English and Spanish, sings and teachers songs, rhymes and fin-gerplays during inter-active sessions. FCCC’s camp program is running out of Friends Select School this year. The kids are loving the change of scenary and being in a big kids school. It is a terrific pathway into kinder-garten citizenship for the Fall! Bjay, Cat, Roshawnda and Corey are doing a fantastic job keeping the kids engaged through arts & crafts, enrichment activities and weekly excursions/events. Here’s the link to a brief video of the 1st

week’s activities. https://quik.gopro.com/v/OzJkg0J5Qk/ Thank you to all who donated to the dia-pers and wipes drive for The Baring Crisis Center. Your contri-butions and support will help many fami-lies in crisis over the next few weeks. If you did not get a chance to contribute as time did not allow, it’s not too late. Bring the items in and I will arrange a pick-up. Your kind-ness and generosity is greatly appreciat-ed! Thank you to all who supported June’s bake sale. We raised approximately $460 over the week and this is hugely due to parent participation and support from the community. Our Friends Center ten-ants love entering

the building to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and tasty breakfast or lunch treats. I look forward to extend-ing morning greet-ings to you during the next bake sale!
