MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT STUDY

Seaworks existing fleet of 120 machines consist of hydraulic & wheel excavators ranging from 20 to 80 tons,

graders, bulldozers, rollers, air-compressors, generators, trailers, articulated dump trucks, cranes, hydraulic

breakers, etc. manufactured by Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Kobelco, Volvo and Daewoo-Doosan.

Prepare a hypothetical setup for managing & maintenance of the above fleet with the following:

1. Make an organization chart for the whole Maintenance Department, including manpower requirements forperforming all the maintenance activities, designations, quantities, and minimum qualifications / experience.

2. List minimum required tools & repair equipment and diagnostic instruments for the maintenance workshop.3. Sketch a general layout of the workshop facilities, identifying the main components of the facility.4.
