Olympia London continues to plan for the return of events to our venue. We’re committed to the safety of everyone who visits us or works with us and we’ve put a range of new measures in place. We’ve collaborated with other venues around the UK, as well as event organisers and industry associations on these measures.

This means that when the Government announces a date that events can restart, Olympia London can return to hosting events where everyone knows they will be safe to truly enjoy inspiring event experiences in the capital once again.

• We’ll ensure a process is in place to monitor that all employees and service partners are fit to work

• Our staff will be trained to take all necessary precautions to ensure safe interactions and they’ll be issued with appropriate PPE for their role, in accordance with government guidance

• Our Venue Risk Assessment has been updated to address Covid-19

• The Business Centres in the venue management offices and Conference Centre will have additional measures in place to ensure safe interactions

• We’ve removed all water bottle filling stations for the time being

• We’ll determine appropriate capacity and people-density with each event organiser based on the Government’s social distancing guidance at that time

• Olympia London expects each event organiser to fully comply with ‘Test and Trace’ guidelines; liaise with their exhibitors, contractors and visitors, and alert the venue of any possible infection immediately

• Olympia London will work with each event organiser to plan appropriate queuing systems to enable social distancing at entry points

• Visitor lifts will have reduced capacity to help with social distancing

• Olympia London will not operate a visitor cloakroom so visitors should avoid bringing items they don’t want to carry

• We’ll run a cashless cloakroom for exhibitor use

• Olympia London will install hand sanitiser dispensers around the venue, in particular at entrances and high frequency touch points such as staircases, lifts, catering units, car parks, loading bays and organisers offices

• Signage will be in place in communal areas to encourage social distancing and safe interactions

• We’ll work with each organiser to determine appropriate capacity and crowd density for individual events based on the Government’s social distancing guidance

• Olympia London will provide hand-held temperature screening devices that event organisers might choose to use at entry points

• Gangways will have a minimum width of 2m

• Some event organisers might choose to put a one-way flow in for their event so we’ll help them plan this

• Some shows may decide to do live streaming from their event so they can take advantage of a dedicated wired connection with a minimum bandwidth of 4mb (synchronous)

• Masks and gloves will be available for our staff when social distancing is difficult. Clients, exhibitors and contractors will be supplying their teams with appropriate PPE too depending on their activity in the venue

• Olympia London will follow current Government guidance on the use of face masks and expect event organisers to provide any necessary PPE for their visitors

• Permanent registration desks in the Grand, Central foyer, National and Conference Centre foyer will have protective screens

• Non-touch waste bins will be used on the show floor and will be emptied regularly.

Our catering partners have committed to:

• Revised menus of pre-wrapped and packaged items

• Reduced furniture and limiting access to catering units to help with social distancing

• Encourage contactless payment services where possible

• Extra cleaning procedures

• Ensure staff have access to appropriate PPE and adhere to extra hygiene measures

• Discontinue serving drinks in re-usable cups or re-fill water bottles for the time being. However, our disposable cups are recyclable or biodegradable.

• We encourage pre-booking more than 24h in advance for a contactless parking experience

• Hand sanitiser will be available at touch points

• We’ll be encouraging limited numbers in car park lifts with the use of signage

• Card payments can be made at all pay machines to avoid using cash

• Our staff will be on hand to help with any issues.

Cleaning

• The venue will be fully cleaned regularly and electrostatic equipment (fogging) will be used to enhance the overnight cleaning regime of enclosed spaces

• Olympia London will introduce an enhanced cleaning regime during show open periods, with extra attention given to high frequency touch points such as door handles and hand-rails

• Visitor toilets will be closed every 30 minutes for cleaning on rotation

• Our ventilation system has a separate unit for each hall that draws in fresh air – we don’t recirculate our air

• We’ll have a new service desk for cleaning queries during the pre-open and open periods of all events.
