Background

• Art Center established the Hillside Campus location at 1700 Lida Street in Pasadena in 1976.

• In July 1989, a five-year Master Plan for the Hillside Campus was approved.

• In 2004, Art Center opened its first South Campus location at 950 and 988 S. Raymond Ave.

• In January 2006, a 10-year Master Plan for the South Campus was approved.

• More recently, Art Center acquired three parcels adjacent to the existing South Campus Master Plan and obtained permits for additional work to the South Campus parcels.

• Art Center submitted a Predevelopment Plan Review (PPR) for a new 10-year Master Plan for both the Hillside and South campuses.

• The vision of the Master Plan is to focus growth in South Campus while upgrading facilities in the Hillside Campus.

• PPR is required for all Master Plans

• For the Hillside Campus, the Design Commission requested >the preservation of the Craig Ellwood Building

>Special attention should be given to the final design and installation of the solar/photovoltaic panels in the parking areas
